solid front motor mount issues

i just put a solid motor mount on my 2003 lancer, just the front mount though. will this be an issue with rest of the mounts being stock? any concerns that i should be made aware of? thanks

:picard:

i needed a front mount and i got a solid for a steal so i went with it.

there’s no bushing?

Why would u buy a solid one and not an oem one? It probably gonna vibrate stupidly for no reason. Its just a lancer bro

Not a problem, just stupid as fuck

yes. do the rear one as well.

back when i had a ralliart i did it this way, you can get the 2-part from McMaster for about 30 dollars

edit:

now that i think about it, i have no idea how the motor is in that car. In the ralliart it eliminated almost all the stupid ass wheel hop, but i don’t think a base lancer could even spin the tires… just go buy a stock mount and enjoy a smooth, quiet, vibration-free ride.

i had just an awr front lower mount, it wasnt bad, not alot of vibration, the rear was where all the vibration came from, i still have a side one to do… i readjusted all the mounts and it got a bit better, theres still a resonance once in a while… not sure how your mounts are set up…

i needed a front mount it was riped and dead… i got a free solid mount i put it in im just wondering if it will do any harm with only the one front solid mount.

Why so mad? You drive “just a Honda” am I right?

this is a BAD idea. either go full solid, full poly, or full rubber. you will be focusing a LOT of stress on the single solid mounted region if you just use one…

im sayin i did it because it was free n i cant find an oem mount in stock. they can order it for like 70 bucks i was just wondering if i could get away with just doing it the way i have it now, the vib. doesnt bother me. i was just wondering if it would do further damage to the motor/ trans

no.

yes.

you dont need it. it will cause excess vibrations and your motor dosent have the power to even need a solid mount. put an oem one in there.

I honestly don’t think it will do any damage to the drive train at all.

As far as damaging the rest of the motor mounts, well that is another story. It would depend on the other mount locations to determine if the soft mounts will see increased vibration. If they do it may cause premature wear on them.

If you don’t want to spend $70 on a front and don’t plan on keeping the car I don’t think it will matter. The only problem you will have is when the other mounts rip on you.

thinking out loud… if you only have one solid mount then you’ll probably destroy the others since they’ll have a lot more force on them.

does this sound legit?
