Some info for Xbox 360 owners

Mad Catz® Brings HDMI to All Xbox 360™ Owners
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. (Amex: MCZ; TSX), a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider announced today the release of the Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit, a revolutionary new accessory designed to allow owners of the Xbox 360 console to connect directly to any standard HDMI input on their TV’s or displays and enjoy true High-Definition (HD) digital video and audio for gaming and movie playback.
The HDMI Conversion Kit connects easily and safely to the ‘AV Output’ located on the rear of the console and utilizing advanced microprocessor technology, converts the analogue signal to a digital HDMI stream, outputting all popular HD resolutions up to and including 1080p and compatible with the HDMI 1.3 standard.
Furthermore, the HDMI Conversion Kit has been engineered to carry full multi-channel Digital Audio (Dolby® Digital, DTS®) through the HDMI cable directly to compatible TV’s, eliminating the need for multiple video and audio connections. Should users wish to output digital audio to an alternative source, a separate Digital Audio Output has been built in to the device and using the Digital Optical Cable provided, offers users flexibility to connect however they choose. With all necessary cables needed supplied in the box, the HDMI Conversion Kit is a true ‘one-stop solution’ to an all digital experience.
Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz commented, “HDMI is widely recognized as the connection standard for the High-Definition age in which we live, delivering unsurpassed visual and audio quality. However, millions of Xbox 360 consoles are not equipped with an HDMI output and owners are unable to take advantage of the benefits an all digital connection provides. Mad Catz’ Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit provides gamers with a digital video and audio solution that we believe will be embraced by owners of HD-TV’s and those who demand the best from their entertainment. With breakthrough, innovative products such as this, Mad Catz continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing all areas of gaming and we look forward to introducing Xbox 360 owners everywhere to the all digital revolution.”
Compatible with all Xbox 360 consoles not equipped with HDMI connectors; the HDMI Conversion Kit is expected to be available across United States in late January 2008 for an SRP of $89.99.

hot $hit

however, IMHO, its still a bangin deal to get the elite with the built in HDMI port and the bigger HD…and a new processor too if i recall correctly?

Great except for the fact it’s made by a horrible 3rd party company. It will work for a month and the STB.

meh i sold my old school 360 premium and bought an elite.

yeah sort of like monster, all marketing, worthless junk.

Who was talking about monster?? This is a MadCatz product.

I’ve had nothing but problems with there products.

u said horrible 3rd party company, IE: monster and the likes.

Sorry you have poor reading comprehension? I wasn’t making a blanket statement about all companies, just the one you posted about.

Wow… Good post kevin. Nappy do you own shares in monster?

nappy is just a misrable fuck it seems

Don’t own a lick of stock in anything thank god.

Just today. Maybe I don’t like you. Haven’t decided :stuck_out_tongue:

:), its all good.

Uh Nappy, I hate to say this (not really) but I think your reading comprehension is out of whack on this one.

I vouch that MadCatz blows. Minglor had a MadCatz controller for the XBOX, it shit the bed after one night of DoA:3

Defeats the whole point of HDMI, which is to keep the signal 100% digital. I bet it looks worse than had you simply connected the 360 via the component connection. Any time you convert from one format to the other you’re going to lose something.

Chances are your digital TV is going to do a better job converting the 360’s component analog signal to digital than letting some MadCatz junk do it.

Seems like a better deal to trade your old 360 (minus HDD) in for a new arcade version. Costs a little more, but you get a new 360 and a real hdmi port, plus a memory card and 5 arcade games. If you can find a game store that has one in stock.

Of course then you have to deal with the DRM problem if you bought DL content or games on your old console.
