sometimes life is not fair.

C4? Must be poor.

With the average price of a lower mileage c4 vette being what? 13-15k? I see that $16,500 is pretty decent, but that the market cant be bringing much more than $20k. So good deal, but its not a thrift shop steal.

You realize its a ZR1 with a LT5 though?

A regular C4 can be had for much much cheaper

forgive me again but being a non vette enthusiast i have to ask why would someone want this over a c5 z06?

seems like you can scoop a z06 for the same price…

you’re not gonna get a z06 for $16.5 without it having a ton of miles. i’d still probably opt for a base c5 though in that range.

With you on this.

Because a way more complicated limited run motor is cooler

after 2 min ebay search…

yeah i guess i should have specified.

the first is $18.5 and has 84k on the clock.

the second is $19.5 with 64k on the clock and, admittedly a track car with battle scars (in the description.)

the third is $18k with 85k miles.

when i said “without a ton of miles,” i meant like <50k. 2 of those i consider higher mileage and the middle one is kinda beat. when i was considering one, i wanted low mileage and not trashed, as in: about the same condition as the car in the original post. i also understand the mileage will be higher on a car that’s an additional ~10 years old.

The reason Is they are rare they do hold value and it’s the only c4 I would drive. They have an epic porno red interior.

Would you really want a Yugo with a hyabusa motor in it?
Yeah its a cool car, but the chassis still sucks. It still isnt old enough to become a classic and be worth a ton. I would think if it was truely worth way more than $25k more people would have bid on it. Maybe someday, but not here and now.

I agree they suck

I would rather have Angry Hero’s vette…

word on the street is 80k is high milage

I’d drive this. And I’d redo the headliner with galaxy cloth.

in the Vette world anything with over 20k is high mileage

I’m blown away by the ZR1 hate. I remember being a teen in the early 90s when these came out and some dealers had them marked up to $100k. 400hp was insane power and the thought that one day these would could be purchased by the common person especially with how few were made was crazy.

They really didn’t have any competition, maybe the F40?

Saying things like why not a C5 z06 is just insane to me because their place in history is not even the slightest bit comparable. If I had a z06 today I’d beat the piss out of it, but if I got a zr1 I’d feel a duty to preserve it. The z06 came 10 years later but has the same basic power.

Maybe I’m crazy and I expects awe for this car that came from reading about it in magazines way back has jaded me, or maybe 10-20 years from now these will be a 6 figure car. I guess we will see

when i was growing up i was busy lusting over these

Me too, and I hate C4 vettes, but the zr1 was special unobtainable object. I think I was surrounded by 911s back then because they didn’t feel special. 959 being the obvious exception. (Along with specials like the yellowbird and BTR)

I remember that spotting a zr1 on the street was equal to a 959, Diablo, xj220, 355.

lol i totally forgot about this fucking thing

Nailed it!

It’s not just an engine either. Some of these guys in here posting their opinions don’t know JACK SHIT about anything other than LS- powered crap. The C4 ZR-1 had a different rear bumper, and wider rear quarter panels. You can instantly spot one if you know what to look for. The car was stolen for that price. I never knew that the C4 chassis was so horrible, lol. Was the C5 chassis a light year leap in technology or something? Let’s see, transverse mounted rear leaf spring independent rear, 4-wheel disc brakes, abs, big tires at all 4 corners, yep, every 'Vette since 1968 has had that. The C5 was better yes, but hardly a night and day difference. The ZR-1 back then did 0-60 in 4.4 and the 1/4 in 12.8, and could go 180mph. It could corner near 1g and stop from 60 in 99 feet. A C5 Z06 will better some of those times ever so slightly, and the interior sucked in it as well.
