Son launching Trojans? Apps?

Yup, my computer also did a random restart. WTF…Gonad…get on this sh!t…

:ugh: Way to take a screenshot Dan

Look guys, the forum hasn’t been touched in months and everything is up to date.

This kind of shit happens and I almost have no way of knowing.

Also I don’t use IE maybe that’s why? :dunno:

Listen broseph, next time this happens, right click on your SON page and View Source

Copy the content to .txt and e-mail to son240sx@gmail.com

Again, I apologize if you got hit but the page looks clean and as I said, I’ll keep an eye out.

What virus scanner do you guys use? I use AVG Free. Works well :dunno:

Norton Anitvirus Corporate
Spybot SD resident

The screen shot was just to prove something is happening…it’s your job to figure it out…or are you honestly telling us you have been outsmarted again but some 14-year kid in Kazakhstan? Come on dude - step up your game.

hire me as site admin mwahaha, but it wont be free :stuck_out_tongue:

I shall rule them all :stuck_out_tongue:

And don’t diss 14 year old kazak kids they are better than local natives at math and english and 1337 m4d h4x0rz too.

Has nothing to do with son anymore, get your machine fixed. If you’re infected by a worm/trojan/virii/whatever deal with your machine first.

My suggestion kids stop using IE… permanently… or disable activex and set high security settings on javascript but shit will fail… just switch to firefox.

I uninstalled IE8 from the latest build of windows 7 lol… good bye hellxplorer

Ahmed, I think dan’s implying that because of SON launching a trojan, his computer restarted.

It’s like you’re driving down the road and you get a flat tire, what are you going to bitch at the driver and say “WTF dude, didn’t you see the nail on the road? It’s your job to be paying attention”

:ugh:

In anycase, if someone has any suggestion on what I should be doing differently, let me know because when shit happens out of the blue I really have no way of knowing.

Sorry for the hostility. I don’t react well to being cornered when it’s not really my fault. :hs:

Letting Ahmed become an admin is like making Obama president.

I know the first thing Ahmed will do is ban me.

I find it more amusing that Ahmed thinks we all get paid to run SON :hsugh:

Do you even know what you’re talking about?

OOB IE7 in Vista is double-jailed [also read as running in a “sandbox”]… UAC and Protected Mode. You can disable both of these security features however if you can live without disabling them you have the most secure OOB browser.

Any browser you install and then customize will (usually, granted your not modifying the browser to increase security) increase the chance that malicious code will execute and infect your computer.

Using FF and then tossing a few extensions on is not safe. One cannot assume FF extensions are regulated for security let alone programmed well…

If ActiveX is your argument then I suggest you don’t use FF or Chrome… Both can execute ActiveX. [Google Chrome installs and ActiveX shim (by default) and FF uses XPCOM to execute ActiveX code… ]

Listen, you can install FF or IE7/8, Chrome, etc and still get a virus. If installing FF on XP helps you sleep better… ignorance is bliss, I guess.

fuck it man, how many helper objects attach themselves to IE, its retarded, every single time i ever got a a virus despite having an antivirus was through some shitty activex or helper object attaching itself then having to spend a good hour to three hours manually cleaning the system. It’s a piece of shit.

Yes in IE8 you can view now helper objects and activex controls in one easy way, but I am biased having had plenty experiences with both products.

And I know what running in a ‘sandbox’ is likewise all the other BS features in vista such as the anoying UAC.

FYI not all people HAVE vista! I’ve been running it for a while and currently am testing 7 (which is GREAT on a side note. You can also disable/remove IE, although of course its’ components are integrated a complete kernel and interface rewrite would be necessitated, a complete OS rewrite to truly get rid of IE).

Main reason I use firefox is I prefer it’s interface and minimalism I can achieve unlike IE which forces me to be a certain way… and being separate from the system and being able to customize it the way I want including customize sites I visit through scripting… and haven’t been infected even once or had any unwarrented popups even once. It has been bulletproof for me in several years unlike IE.

Your experience is echoed among many FF users however FF is vulnerable to ActiveX attacks and malicious code. (see below) ActiveX is a core component of windows and Windows based browsers (i don’t know about Opera) will include a shim or adapter to execute code. All an attacker has to do is push the malicious code through the ActiveX connector and bam, same exploit used in IE now works for FF or Chrome…

TBH: I use FF and OSX at home, right now I don’t worry about virus or spyware at all.

I didn’t say FF is invulnerable there have been plenty security flaws but they get fixed extremely quickly where as IE flaws can be out there for a couple of months after when a security firm or hackers discover it.

I love watching wanna be IT guys argue… its makes my day go by faster when I get to laugh alot.

LOL

<3 rich

I AM an IT guy… it’s my frickin job lol. I hate computers when I come home. It’s fun at work dealing with hundreds servers, virtual clusters, data center, etc… but I don’t want to touch a broken computer or computer issue when I arrive home. Words like SQL, filers, SAP, etc… are like high dB noise that I want to block out.

I hate involuntarily hearing about computers

This is how some people feel about computers who really don’t have a job with computers:

This is how I feel at work and at home when having to fix computer related issues:

You guys are newbs…

Wait, who was arguing…I was just stating facts? IIRC, your still running a 486 at home…

As much as we like to gang up on Ahmed, I have to agree with him on this one.

I’ve had nothing but problems with IE even after dicking with the security settings.

After switching to FF, I have never had any problems; and I haven’t even adjusted any of FF’s security settings.

Fuck IE.

BTW, My comp has been virus free since moving to FF; unlike your mom. Oh diss.
