he’s usualy crushing the ITR that runs up in CSP, he’s usualy battling it out with that above said guys g2 CRX that only has suspension work, and a intake and header, stock exhaust… those 2 usualy battle it out for 1st… the car has ITBs on it and sounds pretty pissed off for a old SOHC honda.

I was driving past the old little caesars pizza on rt88 in castle shannon. I noticed on the front of the building there was a coming soon sign for Speed Nation. It also had a mustang dynometer sign as well. Im guessing this is going to be an import shop? Anyone got any info? Very small building, I hope they are putting up something else.

Hi, I’m the Operations Director for Speednation. We’re not an import shop because we’re not really a shop (per say). Most of our business is over the internet and is diecast and plastic models, books shirts and other automotive related gifts. We don’t want to work on customer cars because we’d rather work on our own.

Yes, we have a large addition planned to go on the back that our Mustang Dyno will be housed in. We just closed on the building last week (mucho dinero) and we’ll first be renovating the inside of the building so we can move our internet (and retail) business into it and hopefully we’ll be moved in by the end of May. We’ll start building the addition in the back about that time and we’re trying to have the dyno installed and running by sometime in July.

yeah read it though. “the rollers are so easy to turn you can move them with one finger” that sounds like that will be very very accurate.

We have a Mustang dyno, the most accurate dyno on the market today. Don’t believe a guy that owns Japanese cars? How about a Chevy magazine?

http://www.mustangdyne.com/Articles/CHP0603-article-01.htm

The magazine tested our dyno, the one in Washington PA and they also made some passes at Keystone (or whatever it’s called this season) and found ours to be better than a Dynojet. Just for the record, our dyno has never been broken or not calibrated. In fact the other Mustang dyno in Allison Park does NOT properly calibrate the dyno when they measure your car. Oops.

well if thats the dyno out in mcdonals or from out that way i believe they had to shut it down cause it was in a residential area, but i heard the dyno was real inacurate unless they got it repaired

We were shut down because of the noise that bothered a next door neighbor. The dyno was run after an agreed upon cut off time (by somebody who should have known better) and with the garage doors up. FWIW, I live right in front of the dyno and don’t find it to be as bad as the traffic on the street in front or the kids across the street with dirtbikes. As I said before, the dyno is more accurate than anything other than a real live quarter mile pass on a drag strip.

The move is not related to the dyno noise. We’ve never tried to turn a profit with the dyno, it’s just a big toy for the owner who uses it to tune his own racecars on. If we use it noncommercially, we can run it during the daytime whenever we want. In fact, we were just using it this past week. The real reason for moving is to expand our retail hobby business and we couldn’t think of a better location than right there on RT 88.

Thats kewl i just heard bad stories about the place, but i gues everyone either good or bad still has ther bad days and there haters

Hmmm. Not sure what bad stories there would be. We’ve dynoed lots of cars and our rates are WAY cheaper than anybody else that I’ve ever heard of. The only people who went away unhappy would be the people who thought their car was putting out twice what the dyno actually said it was.

Our rates will probably go up just a little, but we’re still going to have the best rates in the area. We’ve dynoed everthing form old MG racecars to Viper GTSs with nitrous so we don’t pick favorites.

If you happen to drive by when we’re inside renovating or when we’re open, stop by and say hi.

post in noob section. and it seems like alot of people say good things. im all abotu cool t-shirts and stuff

welcome jim-
thanks for clearing any BS

mike has a number of cars one of them “fred” is the one i thought yu were talking about on page 2 because the “multicolored one” is now solid blue…

Actually…

Fred is his blue '85 CRX that is currently getting a twin cam swap. You’re thinking about Sam, who is the teal '86 Civic that he’s been racing quite a bit.

Sam is often confused with the car in the pictures above. The car above belongs to Dennis Witt and it lives in Jefferson Hills. I’d normally say the car is pretty ugly but it was just repainted last year a really nice blue with white racing stripes. The car that Dennis owns is pretty much stock (except for the aftermarket EFI system on it) while Sam is completely and totally race prepared (stripped, lightened, custom motor and suspension, full cage). With Mike driving, Sam has set numerous Solo 1 records at different hillclimbs around the state.

I should also mention that Mike owns Elvis, the '73 Civic hatchback that has Mugen EVERYTHING in the engine and tranny. Elvis is also a full blown racecar (cage, suspension, stripped and lightened) and has set a few Solo 1 records as well.

Don’t get me started on the 13b powered Mazda Cosmo Mike owns or the turbo Neon he just bought…

elvis is that brownish color right?

I guess you could call it brown. It’s supposed to be black cherry according to the previous owner. I’ve never liked it myself.

ahh, Dennis painted his car i see… that car was ugly as sin, but pretty fast…

i think there was another one of you guys on the board, but that guy stopped posting as of late.

If I ever get off my ass and get my 87 CRX on the road I might come up for some dynoing.

jim,

thanks for the info
