Splash Guards. NEEDED ?????

This may seem a bit of a dumb or odd question but im very picky about my car and the engine. i have a 90 180sx with the CA in it. im just woundering if i really need the splash guards that are under the body and by the engine or can i just scrap them. i know my left side rubs when i turn sharp and there sucured with zip ties (came like that from japan) if there just there for added comfort im going to take em out asap. if not then ill modify them to work properly. BTW im not winter driving my car.

The guards just help to keep things cleaner, the undertray under the engine helps water and crap from splahsing up into the engine bay…Id say if its in good shape keep it.

Big part too if you have nice paint. When the guards are gone they throw rocks in your door jams and the paint will chip badly and quickly in the door jams and even the bottom of the door and causing rust there.

I cut mine on my convertible to just cover behind the wheel by the door to stop that. It still rubbs but not bad and I dont care. Id rather hear a scrape when I turn very sharp than have to tell the guy who buys the car why there is big chipc there or rust for that matter.

I would say leave them where they are.
When I bought my s13 it came without splashguards and had the same problems with rocks in the doorjams and such.
