SRS BZNS requires Serious Inputz

My Fiance is car shopping.

She has found and fallen in love with a Black 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. The car looks and seems mechanically sound but idk jack about these little gook cars.

I googled as much as I can and it seemed like most of the repair complaints were issues you’d have with any car and the repair costs actually seemed fairly cheap.

Anyone had previous experience with these things good or bad?

I mean she is a respectful driver would does alot of driving in traffic and city driving for her job so I need a sound platform

They rot , motor issues , trams issues , need I keep going dude ?

I had seen something about a trans TCU issue but it was addressed as a recall.

I have been pushing her towards getting an 93-01 impreza or 97-99 eclipse

Never try to change a woman’s mind…just a piece of advice. If you find a well maintained one she will probably get tired of it before you have problems with it.

5 Speed. no go

suggest a honda or a xb. that guy on here with 300k is perfect reason why.

i would never suggest a second hand hyundhi

tiny shit box. My brother’s whore ex wife had one and I barely fit in the car and it felt like I was riding on the ground.

The rear quarters seem to rust quick and the sheet metal is about as thick as a piece of paper on Hyundai’s.

My wife had one a while ago and hated it. The rear hatch leaked badly, all 4 wheel bearings went within the first year she bought it, and the ride in it sucked just as bad. Luckily I was able to talk the dealership into giving her more than it was worth trading it in for her Jeep.

Get a Toyota and tell her to like it !!!

agreed toyota or honda > then all other low priced used options

I tried talking her into a 91 supra lol

What is she looking to spend? I may be able to help.

how about Ryan’s wife’s Mazda thats on here?

I don’t know all that much about that particular generation of tiburon, but the one after is basically the same as an elantra from the same year. Meaning, if you can keep it from rusting, its a decent car that’s great on gas. My friend’s old 2004 elantra survived a lot of really stupid things that should have killed it. Him letting his sister drive it and then ignore the fact it was overheating is what did it in.

2001-2005 civics are shitboxes, I’d honestly rather have an elantra from those years.

My GF just got an 05 xB and loves it. It’s auto and around town seems to be getting 30-31mpgs

I FUCKING LOL’D

Nothing wrong with an eclipse if you don’t fuck around with the damn things.

Any used car that is 12 years old would be a risk. A 12 year old Hyundai though, sounds like a bad idea…

That gen Tiburon is garbage. 03+ ain’t bad. My 05 was very reliable.
