According to the Buffalo News, the driver of the neon is Marcus Elliott, 23. And, he was allegedly driving like an asshole.
The bus driver, Catherine Mueller, 58, of Amherst, was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of arm, back and neck injuries.
“Our driver was found unconscious in the stairwell and transported to the hospital from the scene,” said Glenda Lamont, vice president of communications for First Student, the operator of the bus.
District spokeswoman Rita Wolff said the student who was checked out at the hospital returned to school, and the bus driver was released from the hospital as well. The principal called the parents of the pupils and spoke to each child who had been on the bus. The principal also sent a letter home with all students today.
The other driver, Marcus J. Elliott, 23, also of Amherst, was treated for head and neck pain at ECMC and later released.
Officers issued tickets to both drivers.
Mueller was charged with failure to wear a seat belt.
Elliott was charged with driving too fast and unsafe lane change. Mueller has been working for First Student since 2005 and has a clean record, Lamont said. She had a physical last month.
The company is conducting an internal investigation and is cooperating with the investigation by Amherst Police, she said.
“Our bus was waiting to turn, and we believe the other car slid on ice and hit our bus,” Lamont said.
