Not just in japan, here in the states a few states are getting pretty serious with their inspections. I forget where but a few places you can fail inspection for having more than like a 2 inch diameter spot of rust on your car.
Smog testing is becoming more popular too… there talking about throwing the smog dynos around here in new york :ohnoes
now see thats bullshit too… because what happens to the guy who cant aford a new used or brandy new car? hes forced to look in the want ads… and the and a cheap car is the one with rust… and some minor issues…so now your telling the guy his car wont pas inspection so he can drive it legaly to get to and from work to feed his family because of a fucking rust spot? thats fuckedup, bad breaks ok, bad tires sure, but a fucking spot of rust? how stupid…makes no sense unless their goal is to force more people to end up on welfare and jobless because now their car cant be driven leagaly and they cant aford to buy a car thats rust free… lol apparently the people making the laws dont know what its like to have to actually work for a living…or how hard it is to start out from a dead stop out of school.
Since this thread is already off topic enough, have many of you actually looked over the NYSI regulations? They are IDIOTIC at best.
You can fail NYSI due to having your liscense plate lamp out but if your SRS/AB light is on you can still pass. Your just supposed to inform the customer that there airbag light is on. So you can fail if your liscense plate isn’t lit up but if your airbags are faulty and won’t work if you crash you can still pass…
New Hampshire doesnt allow rust. I think they allow Bondo and duct tape though.
As long as the frame or unibody isnt rotted out I dont see the big deal with rust.
