Feeling a bit better, I’ll ask a simple question, asked on an American forum… Steak or ribs? What say you TNC?
Cue: Richard Hammond:
Its the age old question we’ve been debating since The beggining of time. Before man argued over politics and women, we had only one thing on our minds. Which is better: A full rack of ribs or a perfectly made steak. both are meat so both come standard with mouthwattering flavour and energy effcient protein. (zooms into the face) but you can keep the slab of meat, im taking the ribs. It just makes more sence. With a steak, it has to be cooked just the right way, which also happens to be different for every single person, thus making it easy to **** up its taste. While ribs are about as reliable as a wood burning stove. Then theres value for money. While most good steaks at a good resturaunt are 40$ for a 7oz, you can usually get a 2 full racks of ribs for the same price. its really a no brainer.
Jermy Clarkson: Rubbish, what you really want is a medium rare, fully flavored, fully tenderized steak. end of story. see with ribs, any bloke with a high school education and a piece of paper with the recipe, can make good ribs. no one is saying they’re bad, far from it, just that theres nothing to them. but a steak; a really really good steak…is an art form. a master piece of modern cooking fit only for the pallete of a man who really knows who to distinguish between crap and a really good piece of meat. Hammond was right about one thing though (zoom in on the face)…it really is…a no brainer.
James May: Nonsence. what you really want, is a fish. yes a nice healthy salmon…
Hammond and Clarkson: Shut up May. You’re the worst guy on the show, and we hate you.
Post pics of your favorite dish! Personally, it really depends on the ocassion. If I’m out with buddies, I’ll grab the ribs. Nearly impossible to screw up, and a rack of ribs for $15 ain’t gonna be much different from a rack that’s $40. They’re cheaper, and generally more filling than steaks too! That said, I’m a sucker for a precision cooked steaks–even if I’m left hungry.
Then again, tuna steaks are wonderful also.
