STM Spring Open House / Dyno Day (4-25-09)

What’s the fucking point of having an ~100,000 dollar (?) measurement device if it isn’t even remotely accurate.

u sir are a retard. its that much because it gives you the most accurate #'s. anyone who knows anything about cars knows a dynojet is a poor mans dyno that gives inflated #'s. a mustang dyno is load bearing.

so what would you say is the “industry standard”? Usually when people say XXXrwhp its a dynojet. :gotme:

i guess that would be because of cost. its the cheapest way to get a dyno. ik my brothers car was 1200 on a dynojet and about 900 on a mustang dyno a few years ago. we all expected bigger #'s but it is what it is.

the shocker… seriously…

This is an argument that will never be won…

something does not seem right here^ thats wayyy to much of a difference.

im not talking about dynojets, im talking about a dynapack which is also load bearing, and is like the mustang in that you can fully tune a cars partial throttle and full throttle on it, i dont know all the differences, but the main difference is that the mustang has rollers and a dynapack bolts to the hubs of the car

in the end its used as a tuning tool, and the numbers can be inflated or made lower all with a couple strokes of the keys by the dyno operator

trap speeds tell the real story and are what most racers will go by to base the cars power

meh, idk how much stock i put into that either. According to my trap speed my car should be around 470 hp

trap speeds and vehicle weight along with traction go hand in hand for how much power the car has

the car spins will have a higher trap speed, the car hooks and it will have a lower trap speed, then the weight comes into effect and the trap speed is pretty damn accurate to determine horsepower

Well i bog and my car weighs 3800lbs, so if i spun my car would trap even higher i guess. I know what you are saying though. I will stick with my 420hp dynojet rating, it makes me feel better

i’m the retard?

dynojet != dynapack

dynapack and mustang dynos are both non-inertial

That yellow S4 was mine and yeah, it didn’t do much after the first run. I lost 70 awhp and over 100 ft/tq by the second run. Stock intercoolers, no meth and 85-90f weather. Stock intercoolers aren’t made for the amount of pressure that I run through them, oh well. Time to put the front mount back on (I had partial throttle issues with it on my current tune).

But, thanks for having me STM. It was fun!

i still was impressed by the car. it sounded real good on the 1st run.

Thanks! Anyone have more pics of it?

Wish I still had that fucker installed on dyno day!

Bart, that is a bad-ass car! I wish I had gotten more pics of it!

Barr, car looksgood there, looked kinda haggard at the dyno, the exhaust didn’t help
