Every year ABC’s Wide World of Sports would hold the Superbikers contest. They would put 6 or 7 riders from each discipline ie; motocross, road racing, and dirt track against one another on special bikes. They would make the track have elements of all 3 disciplines in it. Usually the motocross guys would win, but not always. It’s crazy to see the sheer speed these guys have going through the “real” mx course on slicks.
Danny “Magoo” Chandler was nuts on a motocross bike back then. Here’s a little clip from one of the events:
