Suzuki Bandit shocks/springs

Ok I have a 1997 Bandit (Originalsins old bike) and am looking to upgrade the suspension a little.

I hear that the gsx-r rear shocks bolt in. Looking online they don’t look like they will so easily, but I know the busa’s do. There are a ton cheap, and I’d like a cheap upgrade. As far as the rear goes, I would like a swap, and keep the swap stock.

My question is if I do the rear and leave the front for a while, will it still be ok to ride. I mean i know it will be safe, but a softer front with a more stiff rear…would it be weird?

I hear a lot of guys swap out the 10 weight oil for 20 weight and it stiffens up the front a lot or they swap in a gsx-r fork upside down.

Any thoughts?

I do not want to invest a lot of money into this. This is nothing but a cheap fun toy. I am not racing it or ever riding double on it.

As of now I’m thinking about doing the busa rear end with 1.5" lowering bones. (The busa rear is supposed to lift the bike about an inch.) Then running 20 weight oil in the front.

No thoughts?

sell it to me buy and new bike

yes for a “fuller” stiffer ride in the front use heavier oil.
OR get new springs for the front.

FYI: fork oil sucks, try to keep it off you best you can

EDIT: a GSX-R fork upside down? wouldnt that not work?
the valving would be at the top and the oil at the bottom?
I would need to look at one, I could be wrong tho

+1

Looking at a SV650 today, maybe i’ll have to sell my bike.
