we got a 01 CL type s in at work. black on black, autostick, 74k miles. what are some pros/cons to them and if it is something i should possibly look into getting and ditching the gtp.
note: id be in it around $12k
My sister has a TL type s and so far has had no problems but i did hear that the trannys are a weak spot. They’re pretty nice cars though.
x2 on the transmission… heard it from a few AAA members.
the trannys ARE a weak spot. same tranny as the v6 accord if i’m not mistaken. About 80% failed within the first 5 years and from what i’ve seen usually around that mileage…75K. not one of their better trannys. other than that, they are a hell of a nice car
with all honda autos there trannys arent strong. aslong as the tranny was flushed every 30k it should be fine. they also had some sort of valve that gets clogged and caused the tranny to act weird and once it was cleaned they were fine
transmission is not really much of an issue since you break every transmission you touch anyway.
less land yacht-ish… but slower than (your) gtp.
Acura extended the warrenty on all automatic '01 to '03 CL’s and TL’s to 7 years/100k miles.

Other than the bad tranny they’re really nice cars. I’m holding out for an '03 6 speed and navigation. They’re tough to find in the $12k range.
