i think its funny it took them this long to file a suit about an episode that aired 3 years ago
Tesla is such a joke with their ridiculous range claims.
55 miles running at 100% is not really that bad in my opinion. I wonder what the range in my SHO works out to on the road course. I think it is 8-9mpg which would be 112-126 miles and it is not making very much power. I bet that car would be a blast kicking around town. even if it would do 200miles a day that would be plenty for most of my daily commuting. Not that I can afford to buy one anyway.
200 miles/day seems like a crazy claim. I’d like to see what the true numbers are.
They’re CLAIMING the Tesla S with 20k worth of upgraded batteries can do 300 miles, but I question that highly.
edit: autobloggreen got 105-120 lol http://green.autoblog.com/2008/01/29/so-whats-the-downside-to-the-tesla-roadster-the-range/
There is a ton of stuff on Top Gear that I always assumed was more of a joke. If it is considered comedy they can do whatever they want but…
We almost ran over a Tesla in are ford explorer heading to Mosport a few years back. we were at the 401s “fifth wheel” truck stop and i then saw them again when we got to Mosport the 2 of them. so i know for sure they can run from the 401 to Mosport track with out any help. i bet they are from Toronto and made the trip to and from what i seen no trailers. that said there is no reason why they wouldn’t simply plug them in when they get to mosport but yeah. So look on the map and calculate that distance one way TO to Mosport then you know they have at least that range.
Ugh Tesla sucks so much.
The problem is the charge time. They are not a 1 hour fast charge like you drill battery. I don’t know how fast it would be possible to charge them but it would take a significant current draw to charge it quickly
edit: if they could get 200 miles it would suit most people fine for DD activities.
75% of people drive less than 40 miles per day. The current range seems plenty for a majority of drivers, even if it is less than the quoted 200 miles.
