Test drove a 2010 Camaro SS today

After I was done working at 4pm I went up to newera to get my fishing pole and tackle box from my camaro. So I parked my truck next to a new 2010 Camaro SS, didn’t think much of it seen a bunch there already. And went into the shop mike was on the dyno tuning a LS4 SS Malibu, and asked if I saw his new camaro out in the parking lot, the dealer were close with just dropped it off. So I took the keys to “unlock it” I think I said

It had 41 miles on it, let it warm up a little bit. The steering wheel is a weird oval profile rim, but I got used to it. And the side windows are pretty small, It has head room into the roof. But its like the Ttop style thats tight right to the side of your head. I can see fitting a hoop for a 6point easy, but the halo bars are gona suck to tuck with the roof line and down the Apillar. I was gona cruise it over to the local scrap metal yard and put it on the scale, with 3/4 tank but didn’t get a change yet. Drove it around a little, alot of people outside stopped and watched the car. with some old dude cruising in his 70 -71 “chevelle SS” wagon. With traction control off, it would only do a burn out about 30 feet then it kicks in. In the shop parking lot I tried to do some donuts , but it only loops around once then torque management kicks in. Nick came out to watch and I guess mike didn’t want me to be beating on his car before he could. The stock tq management sucks anyway, So I parked it next to my camaro and took some pics, I’ll get the up later. Both cars look cool, and mean, small flowing cowl hoods, tall back ends. Mike wouldn’t turn off torque management for some better pics. He wanted to leave it stock for the weekend lol. I’ll keep this updated, I really like it so far.

umm u may want to edit your title

haha its weird typing 2010, I caught in in the 2nd line tho… thanks

I got to ride in the 2010 1SS/RS 6 speed blue w/ white rally stripes that Paddock had me order even though I’m not getting one at this time :frowning: . Drooooooool

Rides great, great accelleration. And the color draws a hell of a lot of attention just driving around.

It just makes me want to get it even more now.

you didn’t get it because you knew you would be getting one from me silly

cant wait to see some mods and #'s from New Era

I ordered a SLP Loudmouth for mine today and will be looking to get more mods soon!

Sweet, about time it finaly came arrived.

I will have to stop up next week and have a look see.

I like the way they look, defenitely MUCH better than the other generations.

X…

Remember when the new style mustang got tons of attention for it’s styling?

In one year no one will think it looks cool because there will be a gazillion of them on the road.

90% of them underpowered V6 turds.

The V6 this time around actually has enough power for the average man…unfortunately we are not a group of average men but men you have been damaged by the need for speed.

Car and Driver or one of them mags did a sick heater with the thing stock, so maybe its just in that “factory break-in limp” thing that some cars have. I refuse to believe that stock they wouldn’t “allow” the car to do heaters, that’s it trademark.

Yea yea… hehe

Actually got to replace the truck with a truck aka buy out my lease. Then once the Malibu is up next year replace that with the Camaro

:word: The V6 this time has over 300 HP. That’s more than the LS1 was rated at in the 4th gens. This isn’t a 3.1 with 140 hp.

Actually the LS1 was “rated” @ 305hp, but it put out 295-305 to the wheels on the cars stock…:banghead:

I thought in base Z28/formula form they were rated at 285 or 295 and the ram air/SS was the one rated 305.
Either way, it was a joke with the vette being rated 350 with the same engine.

The V6s are putting down about 235rwhp stock

Depends on the year SS/WS6 were rated at 350 and the Z28/Formula were 305

I’m pretty sure you meant to say 320/325 for the SS/WS6.

Also concerning the original post its been speculated that the pcms in these cars have a factory preset break in period and as the miles add up the computer becomes less controlling

I know for example my manual shift mode wouldnt hold 1st or 2nd gear past 3000rpms or so without shifting when I first got the car

I decided to wait a little and see if it was factory programming or a problem

now with 350 miles on the car it will hold the gears until redline

just food for thought

maybe, mike knows more. I know his past new cars had some 3-500 mile limits. The cobaltSS, GTO, TBSS, G8GT. You can do a brake stand, but it fell on its face like 20feet rolling, dont remebed if the ABS light came out. Same with doing donuts, I’m sure if hes not doing family stuff all weekend. He’ll want to get it on the dyno and go into the shop some late night, just to start checking the car out.

Where are the damn pics? What color did he get?
