Thank you moderators

Since when is there moderation on the internet? Its the internet but I think there is way too much off topic B.S. that goes on this site. I’m relatively new and only have read a few worthwile threads dealing with actual automotive material.

I agree a lot with this guy. While the internet is a place where anyone can say anything, a car forum should be just that: a car forum. Moderation against racism, or just overall idiocy on a forum (esp. a car forum like this) should result in banning. But, I guess if it was my forum, there’d prob. be only like 9 members then…oh well…it keeps me entertained for a few minutes a day, when I have the chance to step out of reality for a few…

^ who says it only has to be about car stuff? I like to hear what people are doing around here, not just car related things. If i want help with my honda i use Honda-tech for that. Im more interested in whats going on. There was a forum i used to go on all the time but its down now, hondavision- thta forum was awesome, lots of off topic shit there.

You want worthwhile threads on the internet…
Then stay out of the area known as “OFF TOPIC”
and post up some thread in Gen auto.

:funny:

then find another site :violin:

There is too much moderation. A few mods like to ban/delete people/threads because they dont personaly agree with it, and i feel its total B.S… I liked it when nyspeed first started. Howie would let us talk about and say what we wanted. Now others have ruined it. So what if chevy chase doesnt like black people. I dont like tall people, and i dont think blonde girls are very attractive. Am i going to get banned now???lol Its the fucking internet and people need to grow up and learn that (gasp) people have there own opinions and they might not be the same as yours.

THANKFULLY there is this neato option that allows us to block posts from people we dont like. And i guess if you dont like seeing too many tits and ass you can turn images off also. WOWWWWWWW.

FYI, I don’t think your attitude (snails) was very good in that thread, you yourself didn’t look much better than Chevy.

What rules? The last I checked there are no posted rules or code of conduct for the moderators to enforce. Everything is done at their discretion.

I’m not complaining as I personally feel that the moderators do a good job of moderating at their own discretion, I just think that it would be hugely helpful in preventing stupidity and hate on these boards if there was a clear code of conduct that we all knew we had to follow. Might be a nice legal CYA too if there was ever an altercation that involved nyspeed.com. Meh, whatever it’s a local board not a big nationwide site.

Couldn’t have put it any better myself. I’ve noticed lately I’ll say my opinion in a thread, because that makes threads more interesting than when a bunch of people just say “:word:” or “” and shit like that, and I’ll immediately have people all over my shit. For example: the LS7-R thread, I said something along the lines of “I don’t like carbon fiber on American engines and cars,” and was immediately greeted with stupid ricers rolling their eyes at me and shit. And while I’m on a roll, moderation on this site is mediocre at best. Daddie seems like a real good guy, who doesn’t have it out for anybody and just wants the forum to be fun and be a success. Unfortunately, some of his moderators who represent him don’t show the same character as he does. (IB4myopiniongetsbuttraped)

That’s fine with me, I got my point across and we have one less person on here promoting racism.

I can agree with this.

the forum has got so dull over the past couple months. i used to be on this site all day long. now i can go weeks without even looking at it. whatever. :gotme:

i think i read a shit load of rules at the benning when i signed up… and when you enter a forum or subform theres always a guidelines sticky somewhere…

:gotme: unless those are there for shits n giggles…?

there arent any rules for OT. oh yeah but then there were. but then there weren’t. it really depends on the day of the week and the moderator.

hmm reading forum descriptions always help… this is kinda self explainitory

Here it is folks. The loved and dreaded Off Topic forum. <b>Don't abuse it</b>. <b>Use whatever common sense you have.

i understand. but you haven’t been on this forum long enough to understand. some people can do whatever they want in OT and the moderators will just say “its ot, anything goes…don’t read it if you don’t want to.”. But months ago, people were getting banned left and right, for doing petty shit.

i still don’t think beck has gotten a clear answer to as why he was banned? maybe it was for voicing his opinion about nyspeed on another forum?

Why dont you find another thread if you have nothing intellectual to add.

People were getting banned left and right because in certain specific threads, aka JnJdrama - we asked for people not to fuck around, asked to keep it on topic, asked to keep the BS at a minimum, and even singled out people who were doing it and told them to stop, but they continued.

Some people should be treated differently.

For instance, if you post BS a lot in OT, but also post useful information in tech, motorsport or any of the real automotive sections then you should be given a little more slack because you’ve earned it.

If you’re just some troll who comes on here to stir up trouble in OT, break out the ban stick.
