itd be fair market value(legal) and mods wouldnt count, which sucks.
If it wasn’t impossible to sell this thing I’d consider buying it. At what point does parting this begin to make sense?
It would sell in a heartbeat if a bank would give a loan for it. If he can find a lending institution to value the car more than a basic 80’s BMW then all these 17 year olds could have their dreams come true.
And I’m not sure if the custom work done to this car would have value when removed from the car.
Anything I can move more easily for the same cash value, basically.

I think if it were a different color it would sell more easily, but I’m not really interested in doing that. Parting it I could probably make more, but it just seems like a waste. I’d rather sell it for 20 as a whole than get 25 and throw away a bunch of stuff that I spent a lot of time building. I guess it’s just the principle of the thing.
Don’t part it out. It’s the sum of its parts and not some parts. Awesome machine and surprised it’s still around. Live the color too.
ok ill see if my friend is serious about trading me his cts
i dont think itd be that hard to sell my fc for 16k and id pay you the difference in cash, this one was for sale for 11,500 and sold in 2 weeks 89 RX7 TII LS1 Swap for sale Atlanta
. it doesnt even have half as much into it as mine does.
Then I’ll tell you what I tell everyone else, and I mean no disrespect when I say this: Then sell it yourself. It will be much easier to sell a car that you put together than me. If it’s that easy, then it should be no problem, then you can pay me with cash and it will all be well in the end.
Something like a CTS which has very distinct market value would be a trade I would consider, but the NADA trade in value should be close to my asking price.
i get that response but i wasnt planning on selling my car, id part with it if id for sure have yours in the end. thought maybe youd have some interest in it so thats why i mentioned it.
ill let you know about the cts
I get it 100% and respect it. It’s just a shame because I know the quality work and man hours you put into it - not that you can expect to ever get that back on custom vehicles, but still. This is a bit different than a Skunk coiled Honda with an ebay turbo.
Get it appraised to reflect the value vs a regular e30 like Haggarty or Something
get good insurance, wait like 90 days.
take it to a track day, get track day insurance for the values of car, like 20k or whatever
e30 meet wall
boom, get your money and not have to worry about some idiot ending up with it and putting bags on it and being a total Fggt trying to take credit for your build.
yes because the insurance company will never find this thread or your post…
Well if he does opt for my idea, I would edit that post
and this one
haha
Whats the cost to re-spray it vs broadening your target market… IMO thats whats holding it back to a market that can afford something like this, and have it sit in there garage 90% of the time… Not that I don’t think it looks good
The color is perfect. A re-spray is going to look like hell since I believe the car was sprayed as a bare frame.
I’d be the coolest fuck in Orange County with this thing. I want it.
trade it for my SUV so I can crash it at the first corner, then you won’t have to worry about anybody owning it ever
JK GLWS the car is dope.
I hope you can eventually (soon) find a buyer for your car. In my opinion this is one, of if not the best builds I’ve seen, and I absolutely love this car. I wish I could buy it, owning something of this caliber of a build would be fantastic. I hope whoever buys it appreciates it, and more importantly is honored to own it. I would be!
It looks like no one bid higher than I did so, you can drop it off any time.
Haha, my bid to keep it is 18,000. Have to do better than that.
I’ve posted the motorset for sale, If that sells I’m parting it out. 8500 for motor/trans/cutch, should be able to get well over 20 including the rest of the pieces. I think I could get 3500 for the shell, and all swap specific stuff (driveshaft, motor mounts, exhaust, wiring as a DIY swap kit). Maybe more, depending on what’s included.
I’ve just got it listed on Zilvia, any other 240 guys know good spots to list the motorset?
@bing will list it on the SON Facebook page if you ask him.
i just posted this up in the SON FB group.
would be a good idea to post a thread on the SON forum and then link that over to the FB page… many of the dudes on theFB page are not that familiar with the car
