Getting the 4 today. No more slow 3G!!! YAY!
Dude its like night and day once you get it. I can’t believe I ever dealt with a 3G and thought it was fast at one point. Haha.
It’s actually not terrible with 4.0.2. But still, the 4 blows it away.
So apparently Camera+ got pulled from the app store because they buried an easter egg in the code that allowed you to use the volume buttons to trigger the camera. Anyone have a working link to the IPA?
I found this http://bbs.pockoo.com/download.php?did=16671 but when I install it through installous the app is there but crashes after the first splash screen.
Install SBSettings and disable the Apple Killswitch. I think it may be Apple preventing it from loading.
Good idea, but disabling the kill switch did nothing. I still get the SLR looking camera splash screen then the app crashes, though it does remain in my running apps when I double click the home button. Clicking on it from the multi-task list just causes the splash screen to pop back up and disappear though.
Just becuase the app is in your tray doesn’t mean its still running. Even apps that don’t have the background call set in their code will still show up there as a shortcut to relaunch the application. I haven’t used it, its not my phone screen shot so maybe a remote call with the developer site isn’t working.
i got the free one just 10 min ago from the app store. worked fine… im using a iphone 3gs on 4.0.1 also try using installous if your JB i know there is the free and paid copy on there
Check out CallTell in Cydia. It reads the text message person, call, and even the text to you.

Ya I got mine and was just WOW after coming from the 3G. I just love seeing my 300MB free of memory with all my MobileSubstrate addons running. I have more free memory than the 3G had total.

I didn’t plan on jailbreaking ever but my new apartment doesn’t have wifi (can’t even call to get it until tuesday because of the holiday) and I’d like to tether. I already have 4.0.2, jailbreakme.com said I need 4.0.1. I googled “downgrade 4.0.1 iphone” and saw this

Nothing.
There is no JB for 4.0.2 and no way to downgrade to 4.0.1 unless you backed up your SHSH when you had 4.0.1. The JB developers have said there is never going to be a 4.0.2 JB because no one is working on it with 4.1 set to be released in 2 days. It sounds like they’re putting all their effort into a JB for 4.1.
Ah, so if new software comes out in 2 days I’ll just wait and jb the update once it comes out

haha ya. it does take a basic understanding of the underlying subsystem to the phone to know what you are trying to do and how stuff is working so you dont have to keep restoring constantly.
The last few jailbreaks have been really simple, the jailbreakme.com exploit being the easiest I’ve ever seen. The problem comes when something goes wrong. You need to know how to get into DFU mode, do forced restores, have good backups etc.
With DFU mode it’s pretty much impossible to brick an iPhone. You can always load some backup back onto the phone.
