Just played with a 5, it feels really nice. I hated the 4, 4s way too heavy.
Apple didn’t just suddenly think, “Hey, lets start mapping the world” and run their own maps department. They bought a range of companies and are using their already developed technologies and staff. Apple then integrated it into the OS, the same thing they did with Google Maps (not buy, just integrated it to fit Apple’s OS) how they wanted it. The data came from other companies. Back like 3 years ago they bought Placebase which was out before Google Maps and survived before Apple bought their mapping. They bought Poly9 or something a while back that did 3D mapping and then they bought C3 which is another 3D mapping company with technology that comes from declassified missile targeting systems.
They never should be. They are a consumer company that builds devices that are managed by them and simple for the general public to use.
Sounds like my dating life.
I get that it wasn’t an overnight thought, I’m not sure why you think that I’d think that. It’s clear that they have a long way to go, though. I think they will struggle though, without people dedicated to managing the data in their maps. Data is the name of the game here. You can have the most sophisticated 3d engines in the world and the most accurate navigation algorithms, but without being able to accurately locate points of interest, you’ll fail.
Meh, I don’t really agree. They should be a little more network friendly. Not an all out microsoft style business sector, but at least be made to play nice with the Windows environment.
They actually play pretty nice from what I have setup and used. If you are going to be using something beyond the basic support that Mac has in the new OS, you shouldn’t be using Macs. It is like when people want a Linux PC to run like their Windows PC. In that case, just buy a Windows PC.
Office politics and decisions above my paygrade prevent me from running an all windows environment. The new macbook pros don’t even have Ethernet ports on them. WTF is that shit?
Wifi is more secure. DUH!
Edit: Sarcastic Color
Even if that was slightly true, Our networks are segregated, as I’m sure most are. They aren’t even the same ISP.
I like the new connector - fits so much better than the old connector (and shits on any micro usb connector). Plus, since they’re using the pins for multiple different operations depending on whats going on, its far more compact.
I really don’t see the issue
Apple wanted voice nav
this is obvious, if google wasn’t going to give turn by turn to apple, they weren’t going to keep the maps. they were paying dearly for this. I’m sure google will lose more revenue in this deal than apple… given the sales figures so far, its hard to think too many people are jumping ship.
saw that earlier today. they wanted it, but they didn’t want it google-branded. sounds like google is largely to blame.

Android market share outside of the US is insane. It blows the iPhone out of the water in almost every other country. Trust me, Google doesn’t give a shit.
Apple craps out more money in a month than google does in a year.
Trust me, apple doesn’t give a shit.
lol NERD RAAAAAAAAAGE
i cant believe the loyalty people have to an OS.
But who gives less shits? Clearly this matters.
Let alone a cell phone OS.
You know, I may be seem like an Android fanoy, and probably qualify as one, but I would consider owning an iPhone. All depends on what is available when I have an upgrade come up. I really refuse to buy any device with OEM modifications, so my android selection is just about as limited as it gets.
right? Its just a phone. People get so heated.
Glad I don’t deal with it anymore.
