I just replaced the battery in my iPhone 5s ($29 iFixit kit). She’s going strong and getting great battery life again. I just don’t want to spend the $650 on a new phone. The new ones look nice, but I’m gonna wait until the ole 5s kicks the bucket.
I don’t get the watch, but then again, I’m already trying to break the habit of being constantly inundated with e-crap. I deleted my Facebook app (now using Safari for facebook) at least a year ago for that reason. And I’ve been turning off notifications on many other apps to limit the amount of junk I’m constantly getting bothered with. The last thing I want is a watch on my wrist bothering the shit out of me.
For me, less is more. <3 my apple shit, but I’m not really geeking out on the cutting edge stuff as much as I used to.
What’s the fucking deal with the “financing” options? Are carriers not doing the “upgrade” thing anymore? (If you’re eligible, you get the new hotness for like $200-300?). I have unlimited data with ATT, guess they are trying to force people out of that now too? I’ve got a 6 plus, so it’s probably time for an upgrade, but I’m not chomping at the bit to go buy this right now. Probably wait for the 7S turbo super pro air or whatever the fuck they roll out in six months.

As for the 7, I really do like some of the new features but not enough to drop the coin to upgrade my 6+. The biggest problem I think Apple has right now is they made the 6 so good it just doesn’t feel like a 2 year old phone yet. It’s still fast as hell, still gets me through the day with over 50% battery left and still has all the important features I want.
Yea this sucks. I do like Apple’s tho where you get the new phone every year and Apple Care. I think I may finally do that and just buy the Apple watch. When I got my 6 on opening day, I bought it out right and the guy had like no idea what I meant that I didn’t want to buy it on credit and finance it. With carrier locking you into 2 year contracts, I rather buy though Apple and get the upgrade every year. The price per month is less than the 1 year contract price so its not bad.
They had a slide I think, 2nd highest watch sales after Rolex.
I heard rumors they may space out their upgrade cycle for iPhones after this one due to exactly this. We kind of have peaked with technology in cell phones. Only thing left is incremental improvements on display/brightness, battery life, and cell coverage/speed and all have a lot of other factors right now before they take off so year over year improvements are getting smaller and smaller.
Think about it:
2G - First consumer phone, capacitive touch
3G - Speed Improvements on 3G network/form factor, App Store
4 - Speed improvements on 4G network/form factor, all glass, retina display
5 - Size differences, metal casing, cell improvements, graphics, start of webkit, lightning adapter, bigger screen, touchid
6 - size difference, network, plus model for big phones, 64 bit os
7 - Colors, enabled for high speed cell data, no headphone jack
We have stopped adding and are now taking stuff out haha.
I can’t wait to get the watch finally. The golf swing apps, GPS native, and running with it is great and also the ability to monitor and see alerts with phone in the pocket.
Oh and Pokemon.
People don’t get excited over processor speed but its fairly impressive where they started and where its currently at…
The security features on iPhones/iOS also get over looked.
The breadth of the app store also gets over looked.
People want some ground breaking thing every time Apple releases a product and its simply not that way across the entire technology spectrum.
Completely agree! The fact that the iPhone 6s absolutely destroyed the new note 7 in a multitasking/speed test is impressive enough. Now I’d like to see the 7+ run the same test against the note 7.
In the Note’s defense it’s hard to take a test while you’re on fire. 
I’m guessing the next version has wireless charging?
Do you think they’ll adopt the current standard or make some Apple exclusive standard?
My last 3 phones have had wireless charging.
I assume they would adopt some wireless charging standard unless there is some new tech coming out?
Has anyone preordered the jet black and seen any shipping dates change? I wasn’t able to order mine until Friday morning around 9am so my ship date isn’t until October. I guess the Jet Black has some big supply issues.
Ordered my wife’s new silver 7 on 9/10 (her 5c is finally starting to lag a bit) and the ship dates were already out to the end of September. At that time I still had the option of doing an in store pickup on 9/16 so I have an appointment for noon at the Apple Store to pick it up.
Seemed like silver was ok. The jet black, non glossy one is the one they have supply issues with.
Right now first week in October. Hopefully it bumps up to this month but not as bad as some that are saying November.
I pre-ordered my wife’s 128GB 7+ in Rose Gold the next day, should have it 9/16. It shows ship date of 9/15.
