I sync my contacts with my laptop but my email and cal with my exchange email. Using addressbook groups, you can actually search your exchange contacts for my entire company which I found really useful.
Also, landscape email and texting + copy and paste FTW
I am stuck on the new baseband but I haven’t had any problems. Of course, I’m not usually on calls longer than 30 minutes. Worst case scenario, I end up upgrading back to 3.0.
Right now I’m using SwirlyMMS and missed my vibrating keyboard (and other jailbreak goodness) when I upgraded. When the new MMS didn’t work, I decided I didn’t want to be bothered with the beta. Plus, I already have landscape texting with iReal
Actually, it looks like the problem is on Apple’s end. I have MMS working using AT&T and SwirlyMMS but it seems that Apple didn’t include any carrier settings in the firmware. From what people are saying, there are no MMSC settings installed.
^ You have MMS working because you called AT&T and lied, getting them to turn on MMS because they think you’re using your SIM in a phone other than the iphone.
What I’m talking about is when AT&T enables MMS on iphone data plans, which I doubt will be this early in the 3.0 developer beta.
Nope, never called AT&T. I did do a little workaround though with MediaNet and another phone.
Point is, MMS is not blocked from my phone and it still didn’t work. The carrier settings for MMS are most likely excluded from the firmware. People are getting messages in the logs about a lack of MMSC settings.
Not sure, but I’ve been using it for over 2 weeks now without a problem. Check out this post, all you need is an old AT&T phone that is capable of edge:
Trick is, I believe that once the other phone is used again, it’ll take your MMS away. As long as you get an old phone that won’t be used anymore, this should continue to work.
When the jailbreak gets released for 3.0 by the dev team it will just blow apart this firmware. I can’t wait for that.
Two weeks to a month is about the window people report it working before ATT does a sweep. If you are still working after a month, I would be shocked that ATT is slacking. Their policy is that if you are associated with an iPhone plan, you are required to have the iPhone plan. It doesn’t make sense since you are paying for data and everything but I am looking into the bundles today. They found tethering via USB working on this with some mods too so hopefully I get some time this weekend to really tear apart this thing. I will try it tonight with this and see.
I am pretty happy with 3.0 tho. Few bugs but hell, anything has a bug.
I wouldn’t be tethering without a plan for it. If AT&T does catch you, you’re going to be seeing a hefty bill.
And if their sweep does break my MMS, I’ll just do the same thing again :). I’m sure it wont be a problem for much longer with 3.0 around the corner at least…
There is a patch for MMS on 3.0 that is applied with iTunes for US ATT customers. Friend of mine confirmed it working. Might upgrade again to 3.0 tonight and see how it works since I have unlimited messaging on ATT already.
You can just be added to a developer account to active 3.0 on your phone. I was selling spots on ours for $5 and got about 30 people to sign up. No one wants to wait. Haha.
You just need to fight with ATT to get MMS enabled on your account and install the correct settings file with iTunes. It could take some work from what people are saying but there is people who have gotten it to work.
If you use backgrounder, download Processes for SBSettings. It shows you whats running but you typically only see Mail and Phone. If you are having memory issues, try to turn off winterboard.
Yes i have this same problem, my iphone feels slow, i dont even use a custome winterboard theme any more because it makes it run slow. Is there another porgram that works nice but makes the phone not so slow? Like when i try to send a quick text to someone it takes so long to load.
