The lot 2008 Discussion.

im going to go to Khol’s, give it a shot

Only two of us huh :confused

I might stop by with thed new car. definatly wont have a noticable car anymore tho. ill blend in w/ the kohls shoppers. lol

u know the vig will be there in its glory

so what’s that supposed to mean?, your buying a minivan? :lol

it was supposed to be a surprise… thanks for ruining it joe

New season is getting closer to us day by day, and at this rate we will be about as ready as a midget in a pole vault competition. :ponder

With the domestics being out of McDonald’s and Kohls technically not having the right to ban us from that particular lot, I suggest start off the next season with Kohls again and see how it goes.

The issues are the same as every year, the idiots who pull up and blast obnoxious music and show off their underglow, and the idiots who do stuff that gets us kicked out later.

I propose having a core group of people actually somewhat controlling the lot, and if we see somebody doing something we don’t like, like blaring music, we collectively tell them to tone it down or get out.

Obviously what we’ve down last years, wasn’t enough since every year we get kicked out and if we don’t change things around I don’t see any reason why this year should be any different.

Any other opinions, suggestions? Feel free to post them

Personally i think this whole Domestic vs. Import thing is stupid…however,as a Domestic owner, i will not be comming around all the much if I start getting import owners approaching me, talking shit about my car and im sure it will be the same for anyone else.

No matter how much you control the lot, or try to control the people in it…theirs always gonna be a select Few that ruin it for all of us…personally, I would change the location to somewhere that alot of those idiodic people wont show up too. I dont know where most of you live, but the lot on contral is a Big drive for me even tho, i never minded doing it…Last year, we started having people meet up at the malta mall parking lot (right off exit 11)…their was about 25 at most of us and we would just hangout and have a good time…when you start getting numbers around the 100’s shit starts happening.

Oh I’m not sure if you mis-read it, but I didn’t mean Domestics kicking us out, I meant Kohls.

I do not know many people that have huge issues with Domestics, it might not be our cup of tea, nor do we understand what goes into building one, but I have not seen any direct hatred towards them.

Shit talking about somebody’s car in the community is counter productive to the community and should not be tolerated from either side. Personal issues and egging on is one think, but actual shit talking shouldn’t be happening.

How about a set of rules to follow, 10 commandments of the lot if you will. Which should be followed by everybody. Issues that I definitely like to see addressed is trash being left behind, and double standard of idiocy. When a core member of the community leaves the lot a little agressive, it’s considered fine, but at the same time when a newcomer does the same thing it’s looked down worse. I understand where some of this maybe coming from, but rules should be followed by everybody.

As much as everyone else would like to see that happen that’s going to be almost next to impossible. And as far as getting people in charge of approaching people for doing stupid shit is asking for trouble too I think. Your going to have someone who thinks their tough and things are going to get ugly

It could be trouble, but if we do nothing to try to stop people like that, we might as well stop coming out and give up on the scene.

Domestics had no problems getting masses of people to chase down idiots and preventing them from doing anything stupid, and I give them props for that.

Can’t really say that it will never work because using the domestic examples above, they’ve been at their lot safely for about 30 years, from what I recall, and they had tough control over anything that happens there, until something out of their control happened at Kohls and got them kicked out.

Bah, get on board. The mentality of keeping stuff clean will in the end keep stuff clean.

Organize. People are more likely to feel responsible for what they are doing if it appears they are joining up on an organized group. Park all the cars in parking spots in one confined area would help. Not only to make us look organized but also help everyone identify who is not “with us.” Those who park in ‘our’ area will most likely be more understanding of our concerns.

A little psychology, its not the end all solution, but it will help.

Well that sounds like a sound start :thumb

Being a little more social goes a long way too. People who don’t get approached get, but like the attention, will get bored, get mad, and go do something stupid to vent off and or get attention the only way they know how.

People do stupid shit because they do not see any consiquences, if we provide at least some sort of obvious negative feedback, and show that we look down upon that, Pavlov syndrome will eventually take over and people will learn.

I have a couple ideas, I would try to get a hold of the Mayor and ask if he has any suggestions for venues that car guys can meet. Assuring him that anyone who brakes any laws will have their license plate number turned over to the police. The rub is, when someone shows up, probably not a member, and does something really stupid and if someone gets hurt I think the organizer could be held liable and it would be a very bad situation. While I’m under the impression the members here will use judgement, I used to participate with another local club and we had a meeting place a bunch of us were going to meet and then roll out to the meet together, all of this organized on the forum and the idiot in the lead decided to do 120 mph down the north way. I stopped all involvement with the club after that, I don’t want to associate with people who are that dumb and don’t care about the club itself, because in the event anything happened during a display of ignorance like that, it would only be a matter of time before a lot trouble came onto the club. I’m sure that’s the concern from venues that kick car enthusiasts out, the best bet is to find a place where a symbiotic relationship can be made, ie an ice cream stand or something that by having the cars around will probably generate a little extra business in addition to the owners of the cars buying stuff which otherwise probably wouldn’t. But, if you can get a letter from a head government official saying you can use space “X” following these stipulations, and no one breaks any laws, you’ve got your problem solved. You could even plug the official who helped us in the paper and on this forum, and thank him{often) publicly for his generosity and understanding, politicians eat that stuff up. I am sure there are public lots, someplace, that tax payers could use during off hours that would cause no harm and benefit the community, we could do toy drives, or a cruise to a non-profit and help the community in some way from time to time, people helping people, its powerful stuff.

Didn’t last year someone get a knife pulled on them or something?

I’m not saying it’s wrong for you guys to take it into your own hands, I give you props for it. I’m just saying it could be trouble none the less where someone trying to difuse a situation could get hurt. I don’t want to sound discouraging but no matter what your always going to have “that asshole” who ruins it for everyone.

Timmay made a good suggestion, should try looking into something along those lines.

Last year someone got a knife and bats pulled on them, some guy got hit in the face(correct me if i’m wrong)

Last year in the beginning of the year Khol’s would get i’d guess almost 100 people, idk if it was THAT many but there were a lot of people that would show up and that’s how we need to get it again, the puerto ricans will show up no matter what, they’ll come and cause trouble but we just need to deal with it and not have people trying to be Superman and saying shit to them because that’s what gets them all mad and getting their posse’s and weapons and shit

I just remember about 8 or 9 years ago when I first got into the car scene around here is when I can remember hanging out at Kurver or the Hoffman Car Wash next to Kurver used to be the hang out spot and there were never problems.

Talk about getting the door slammed in your face. Politicians do eat that stuff up, but only when it pleases constituents or voters. Neither of those groups wants you guys around anywhere. Everything that happens in that lot is a potential liability for the owner who is a large commercial realty firm which is good for you guys.

You guys might want to consider not wasting time or energy on saving the lot. You will NEVER make yourselves welcome there and it will always skirt the edge of being illegal. You dont provide any reason for a property owner or business to want you there ($$$$$), therefore they dont want the liability of people pulling knives or have to PAY to clean up the trash, etc.

[This will never happen but] if you want to be welcome somewhere and have some place to hang out, go to a restaurant or bar and SPEND MONEY. That is how you make yourself welcome to business owners. How about Jumpin Jacks in Schen? That way you can even spend money and hang around your mad fly whips and pimp yo subs and holla at cho girl or whatever you people do. ;D

If were talking about location… still nothing wrong with the park and ride. Its one of the few places people were more easy going.

The jumpin jacks idea isnt bad besides during the summer theres never anywhere to park…but kohls should be good this year for about half the year again…untill the same trouble makers show up
