Ok i spliced in a regular bosch 02 sensor to the AEM o2 plug… works fine now. Although not really a “final” product.

Got the car all ready to go, dialed in my home-made idle screw and went to town.

Took it out for about 100 miles and got it up to 18psi so far, definitely starting to move up top now. This car is a LOT more solid feeling than the jetta, so speed is very deceiving I think. its no longer a tin can. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are certainly more fun than the jetta was.

The tach is still off, by a variable amount of rpm’s. Low amount at idle, and like 2k off up top. Not sure what to do about that, even changing the cluster settings didn’t fix it.

Put about 120 miles on it tonight, and with exception of the shitty exhaust it feels very solid and drives very smooth. Spent about an hour tuning cruise and part throttle stuff, then a few logs and full throttle pulls and we’re pretty golden.

Oh it’ll still be a long build… sure its running, but its not done by any means.

Still needs brakes, suspension, wheels/tires, new control arms/bushings, correct fuel system, new exhaust(the one that came with it is haggard), a PTE750 core, and some new bumpers/color change.

I’d say it’ll be next summer before its REALLY done. I hate cars.

Went through 3 transmissions… REAL QUICK(3 in 3 weeks)


Went to Ohio and bought a full b5 S4 drivetrain:

Ended up running s4 rear axles and a4 front axles. Thankfully a friend Aaron found me a solution… trans flanges that fit in an 01e and have 100mm flanges :slight_smile: ANDDDDDDDDDD he had them sitting in his house doing nothing! Awesome. This kept me from having to run 2.8 spindles(or 01.5+ 1.8t) and s4 hubs/bearings or the full s4 spindle/hub/bearing/brakes set. Works like a charm too.

Got all the new IC piping all fabbed up to replace whatever you call it that was on there.

Installed my aquamist HFS-5 water/meth kit w/HSV to run it all off of the sm4. Got it all workin the other night. Still waiting for a pressure valve to run so the pump doesn’t have to stay on all the time. It’s quite :snky: when there’s an intake manifold on the car. Rather visible without.

pulled off the intake manifold, and ported out the flange from 2.25" to 2.5", and got rid of the tiny 2" throttle body(literally) for my old 75mm BBK throttle. Here’s a pic of the port w/the flange on it.

Lastly we started the new exhaust by getting rid of this(the 3" monstrosity w/dump)…

fabbed up a 3.5" downpipe converting to a 3" exhaust right by the shifter box.

Meth is now working, A/C is now working – went out logging tonight and am up to 23psi w/a solid 11.80 a/f… h2o this weekend in Ocean city. Lookin for 30psi on some leaded fuel for the weekend to see what it can do.

Haenszel, like Audi 01E 6 speed? If so I have a beefy axle/stub axle solution for you. Not cheap, but what they ran at LeMans.

it’s not bad, the shifting isn’t nearly what everyone was bitching about. Mine’s much better than my rommate’s s4 though. perhaps because I stuck to the 01a shifter stick and just used the rest of the s4 guts for the rest of the shifter.

Looking for some new ratios though… can use a6 allroad gears, but the 3-4 shift is still slightly a killer. let me know if you know of anything that would be swappable into it.
