Just remember, one mans pork is another mans job.
Thank you Spector, Snowe and Collins. May you NEVER get reelected again.
Criminals.
Collins just did. Specter is on the hot seat in '10. He’s going to face both a primary challenge from the right and a Democratic challenge from the left. Moderate Republicans are slowly but surely being squeezed out, leaving only the hard line right.
Snowe will get re-elected for pretty much as long as she wants.
“But the work has only just begun for congressional leaders in the House and Senate, who now must reconcile the differences between their two versions of the bill during what’s known as a conference committee.”
I guess all that is left is to decide who is going to get their pockets lined.:gotme:
Obama admits that this crap won’t even help for 18months.
What are we doing for the hundreds of thousands being laidoff as we speak.
There is nothing in this bill for manufacturing, you know the millions of people that have already lost their jobs.
Wake up people, you are being robbed in broad daylight.
how about the expansion in unemployment benefits, the $500 stimulus check…
never mind. Thanks for the input on the sink
^^^ i have a serious question to ask you…i know your anti obama and such but hes attempting to find a solution…what is your solution that helps everyone?..you say your feeling the crunch but are you really??? you just bumped your thread to show off your brand new HUGE house. i take nothing from you you’ve worked hard for what you’ve got but your not in people like me’s shoes ive been laid off for 6 months can barely pay my rent…ive been on more interviews in the past 6 months than i have in the first 22 years of my life but cant get a job because 2000 other people apply for the same position as me. so if his plan is going to create jobs so people like me who wanna work and better themselves can then what is the problem??? So unless you’ve got a solution save the bitching because not everyone wants to hear it all the time.
Sincerely,
Adam Frank
Edit: not for you joe for blue eyed devil
:bigclap:
Where is Rage Agaisnt the Machine when you need them?
The PEOPLE of this country need to take the power back. Fuck these politicians…
Seriously?
So you don’t mind sitting around for 18 months?
Maybe you should stop comparing what I have and worry about yourself.
I have said it before, I am pretty lucky and will most likely be ok.
I am not just thinking of myself I am thinking about the MILLIONS that have lost their jobs.
Printing another $800 billion is not the answer!
Edit: My house may be up for sale soon. I hope that makes you feel better. I know it won’t pay your rent.

Good read, and I usually can’t stand Jack.
I am not feeling sorry for myself or worrying about what it is that you have i made a point based on what you show here. i didnt ask for excuses i asked if you had an answer.
i never once said i enjoyed sitting around for all this time maybe you didnt choose to read my entire post that is fine. if nothing comes up and there is someone out there who is trying to come up with something to help why would i not wanna support that. if you are in support of all of us who have lost jobs then why are you against ANY plan that may be sucessful in helping those same millions? That is the question at hand…
There is an old cliche: you’ve got to spend money to make money
regardless of how you may feel there has to be some sort of investment to turn this around it is not gonna fix it self
Further more i wish no ill will towards you so i have no idea why you would assume that i would find solace in you being forced to sell your dream house.
I just feel that most are blaming the wrong reasons. This country needs to work as a free market system but it seems like the government likes to throw a wrench in the works half the time just to f things up. Bailing out bad business(banks, Auto makers, houses) screws up the market. Things fail for a reason and propping them up just sets us up for a bigger crash later. The problem is so complex it can’t even be explained here. It goes back to me bitching years ago about how the government ties my hands(American manufacturer) and telling me to compete in a global market. You can’t “regulate” your countries companies and expect them to compete when no one else is playing by the same rules. Lets not forget this whole thing started with millions of people being put out of work for the last several years. I could go on…
Edit: IMHO the housing market was not the problem, it was a symptom of the problem.
Anyone else realize last night exactly why Obama refused to do town hall debates with McCain? Make the guy answer questions on the fly and he’s as bad a speaker as Bush. It took him 10 minutes last night to “um, ah and awkward pause” his way through the first question.
I was also very tired of his attempts to classify all Republicans as whack jobs like Ron Paul and Blue Eyes by implying we want to do nothing. The majority of Republicans want a stimulus package, and in fact even went as far as crafting our own. Unfortunately in Obama’s big display of partisanship every single Republican suggestion was ignored, yet he complains that we’re being partisan when his plan gets zero Republican support. I guess his version of partisan compromise is that he only wants to hear your side if you’re saying what he wants.
^Thanks. I have made comments in the past about Barry only being good with a telepromptor when people ripped on Bush.
I want to do something, level the playing field. Is that too much to ask?:gotme:
Stop payroll taxes for a while and I will hire back the people I laidoff.:gotme:
Hollywood $246 million?!? Are you kidding me? Unemployed people don’t go to movies.
I like Chuck Schumer’s stance on this bill.
“The sad fact is that unless the bill is all tax cuts, mostly for the wealthy, and has almost no spending, the other side will never vote for it”
The Republican stimulus alternative was nothing more than a glorified Bush tax cut. It was tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy, with a few token bones thrown on unemployment and mortgage concessions.
You’ve been bitching about government spending since you were 12?
I guess I don’t doubt it actually.
Anyways, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Last time the banking industry failed it took 25 years for the market to return to pre-depression levels. I’d hate to think that I’d be 52 before I see the economy at 2007 levels again. Shit the Nikkei’s been in a Bear cycle since the 1980’s. It certainly look like non-intervention doesn’t work. I just hope we’re intervening the right way. :ohnoes:
^I am older than I look.
Biden says there is a 30% chance we aren’t doing the right thing.
Would you spend even $80 if you thought there was a 30% chance of failure?
Who can tell me what happens when the treasury just magically prints up another $800 billion?
 Don’t know what you look like. I thought I read on here that you were in your mid 30’s or so.
Who can tell me what happens when the treasury just magically prints up another $800 billion?
The LM curve shifts to the right, driving down interest rates and expanding national output.
Sounds like typical Schumer BS to me. You’d think he’d learn to shut his mouth after he crashed IndyMac with his baseless statements.
