100 billion Aid to Iraqi gov’t

Come on now everyone agrees that we need to help out Iraq and Big Oil first. Then we can focus on Americans. :banghead:

Stimulus is projected to create 20,000 jobs in WNY alone. That’s 20,000 people earning their own money and doing something productive in the area instead of being supported by you. With the private sector cutting people left and right, this will be a much-needed breath of fresh air.
I was informed today that a job I inquired about was “waiting for me” when I move back. Boy that took some weight off my shoulders.
I do not believe for one minute that 20,000 estimate. I guarantee that does not factor in the governments horrible efficiency rate.
Also I would like to say that one of the talking heads on tv today said that they were not only counting jobs CREATED but jobs SAVED due to the stimulus. WTF IS THAT SHIT?!?!?! God I hope that dude was just some moe.
That would make more sense I guess.
At 20,000 jobs lost a day I would be happy to just stop that at this point. Consider any job created as a bonus.
Although I think the Recovery Plan will make jobs.
I agree with you on both points and am just not sure how much I like the idea of them marketing “created jobs” as jobs prevented from going away and new jobs included. I am quite a fan of the new stimulus package personally. Mostly for my free house money. :spank:
According to NBC this morning each job created will cost $250,000. Super.
I hope they are all Doctors.
Here is a good article from one of those crazy right-wing alternative news sources known as TIME Magazine/CNN…
And how much should a “new” job cost? Does this include cost for training? Equipment? Salary? Healthcare? Do you know why its going to cost $250k or are you just looking at the number and being pissed off? Cynical.
…inadequate and inconsistent financial regulation is uniformly blamed. What’s more, a consensus seems to have emerged among the world’s finance ministers and central-bank bosses that the chief underlying cause of the crisis was an unbalanced and out-of-control system of global capital flows in which some big-spender countries (namely the U.S.) ran up huge debts while big savers (China and India, for example) hoarded surpluses.
Gee I wonder where all that debt came from in the past 8 years?
If my new hires cost me $250,000 I would be out of business.
Sincerely,
A guy who employees people.
after reading the last couple pages:
proving that the stiumlus had worked or failed is going to be a lot like dealing with the classic “bush kept us safe because there wasn’t another 9/11”.
who knows if bush did anything beyond stoping me from taking toothpaste on a flight and spending billions of dollars? we can never know because even without him nothing more might have happened for years.
OK, I DO NOT LIKE BUSH IN ANY WAY, but can we please start saying Bush, congress and the senate?
Its not like bush was king of the land. yes, your representatives fucked up too!
You are creating a job from scratch. Also how did NBC figure it would cost $250k per job? Don’t tell me that they simply divided the amount of money by how many jobs they said they create.
Seriously you are not comparing what the gov’t has to do to create a job with what you do when you hire for a job are you?
Last night I saw a clip of Obama talking about all of the spending and he said that is what a stimulus is. I swear to God I am going to shoot my new TV!
Seriously he thinks YOU MUST spend money to stimulate!?! Who is he Elliott Spitzer?!?
No BUT I garanfuckingtee you if they gave my company $250,000 I would hire back at the very least the three people I laidoff. TODAY, not in 2 or 3 years.
Let’s review; I would hire 3+ people today. The government MIGHT create one job who knows when.
What do you think they ARE doing? The government isn’t directly creating all of these jobs, the departments are allocating the funds through grants to companies that meet their priorities. You want $250k? Present a plan for a promising project on what you’re gonna do with it.
The US economy is completly fucked in the 10 year time frame. I will bet on it.
