The next trillion dollar bailout

I think he’s asking where you got your 1.7 trillion dollar tax break number from. Anyone with a hint of economic understanding can grasp that government spending is a method of stimulating an economy. Y=C+I+G+NX. Pretty simple.

Oh, and he’s intentionally being vague. :picard:

OH MY BAD it was $1.3 TRILLION

Agreeing to dissagree is the best sign of a civilized society.

:word: The oldest country in the world insists that a devil’s advocate argue against a candidate’s selection before they voters choose their next leader.

Disagreements tend to find higher alternatives.

A little perspective…

If you spent one million dollars everyday since the birth of The Lord our Savior you would not have spent as much as this latest bailout is spending.

(Did you like the “The Lord our Savior” part? :D)

Very cool, hopefully not a repost…

These are all potential projects that could be done around here as a result of this bill. Good link

I like the list…some projects would impact my career.

I just dont trust a list that calls something the Erie Canal “Horbor” Project.

Edit. I still wont say this is a good idea until all of these projects are complete.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO OUT VOTE THE RETARDS WHO VOTED NO

Voted. The NO’s sound like a whole bunch of right wing bean counters. “When will we be recouping our 100 million dollar investment” :bloated:

Why would opening up a couple of blocks on main be a good use of $100 million?

Then you’d actually be able to have retail on Main St. again! You know that and the 4000 jobs it creates

It needs to be done. Main place has been dying ever since they went subway only. It will create 4000 jobs. It’s not that often that a roads project has the ability to stimulate a good amount of economic growth. Not to mention, my building happens to be right over this ghost town and it would be nice to have some stuff to walk to during the day.

All of your assumptions are made based on the idea that this will create long sustaining jobs, and not have us right back here in a year asking for rmore money. We are spending the next generations money on an idea, that probably won’t do a dam thing. Its great to know that you will jerk the rug out from people that can’t vote, so you can have it easy.

Its BS like this, that explains why none of us here will ever get one cent out of social security. Because the people that controlled the money when you were a kid, though it was cool to take the SS money and use it like the general fund. So now your money is spent, and you are going to pay for the current baby boomers to get their fat check, while you get nonthing. Who do you think made the decisions to raid the SS funds?

We have to make tough decisions sometimes. The easy road usually isn’t the correct road. But then again, I don’t think many here have enough spine to make hard decisions to ensure the the next generation isn’t fucked.

You mean, it’s because Bush got elected over Gore 5-4 and decided to use the surplus on tax cuts for the rich, whereas Gore would have put it in the lockbox that ensured Social Security for our generation.

Remember how everyone made fun of the lock box? FUUUUUUUUU

Oh, right. I was only thinking about the theater district because I’ve never gone further down because there’s nothing there to

Oh.

In theory at least, an economic stimulus plants a fruit tree, not buys a box of apples.

I hate to say it but the next generation was fucked years before this debacle. Why are you so sure that this plan will completely fail? There are plenty of projects that will give people jobs. People with jobs will pay for new homes, new cars, they will go out to dinner at a restaurant, and go to the movies. All of that stimulates the economy.

And these projects will take years to finish and does not mean that their won’t be other jobs created as a result of the economy growing.

Hey if it doesn’t work you can say “I told you so” but you still don’t have a plan to save jobs so right now you are more of an obstructionist then anything what it comes to this issue.

And no this is not just another recession for which we can ride out, this is going to lead to a depression if nothing changes.

No if it doesn’t work, you can explain to your kids how daddy supported the people that gave daddy everything by taking it from you.

Just because there isn’t a “better idea” doesn’t explain how we spent a total (and I fault bush too) over 2 trillion dollars. That is not chump change, that is fucking HUGE ammounts of money, we never had to begin with.

Whatever, we all will just run around in circles. Some day everone will see that its not the white, middle class Obama and his buddys are worried about, and at that point it will be too fuckin late. I told you so, doesn’t do me shit, I am not here for a laugh, I care what the end result of all of this is.

To be clear, I fault ANY person in congress that signs on to these total BS bills, in this administration, and the last.
