The SLAMMED thread!

none taken, I dotn get my panties in a bunch like alot of others can in here… it all good broski.

lol good to hear, to many tightwads on this site…

Not true for someone who does not want to notch their frame/install air bags/etc. Like 94Gt said, it depends on the car. That Cobra a couple pages ago would roll up to a Mustang meet or something and everyone would say that it’s slammed. Then it would roll into a mini truck event and everyone would say it’s 4x4. There’s no need to notch a frame to be considered slammed.

:nod If that car came to a stang event, people would be like :wtf …how do you drive that? :lol

Id be goddamned to notch my frame rails to get it lower lol, if it was a truck…sure, but im real surprized my car doesnt roll itself up like a booger as it is w/ the mad torquez

:stfu cough cough bullshit cough cough

LOLLLL! :rofl

stfu fag, quit using z’s

put that jetta of yours low enough to where that happens, and tell me how it drives. ive had my car laying on the axle shaft and its very unpleasent. no c-notch here, driving that low is impractical, if i personally want to go really low, id bag my car, notch it all out and be able to drive at a reasonable height, and lay it out when i park.

do it.

you buying?

I heard he was

i can get a good deal on an airsystem but thats not my style… my car isnt a show car, i like having a usuable hatch, i like being able to carry a full size spare, or a spare at all for that matter. i dont want anymore weight in the back than i need… if i had a mk2 golf still, id put it on Air with a mason-tech kit.

thought you guys might like that…

But in all seriousness, i cant believe the doors still open/shut nicely with all the passes/stress on it without subframe connectors etc.

Truff is my car is a pile of disrespected german engineering! I got side tracked this summer and rode the bike alot, and the car collected dust, and has many unfinished projects… cough, cough rear bumper :mwahaha. lol. My jetta is far from slammed and I know it. HOWEVER, I am thinking of putting stock bumpers back on front and rear, and bagging it. Now that the my house is almost finished, next year I might have money and time to do so.

Like you said, static suspension at axle rubbing settings, you only have 1-1.5" of strut travel I bet, if you arent already riding on bump stops and yes it is very impractical. I agree.

BUT, if you notch it right, and run air struts with the right specs (body size, compressed & extended shaft measurements…) you can have a nice ride being lowww… the harsness of the ride is lack of suspension up travel.

your car is still real solid for what its been through… i think laying on jackstands for like 10months un-tweaked it ;D

:crackup Youre probably right! lmao

Is it back on jack stands?

Simple reply, someone that doesnt want to notch their frame/install air bags/ect… doesnt want a slammed as low as possible ride. I doubt a Cobra owner wants to lay frame. BUT if they wanted to have the ability, and wants to notch it up it can be done.

with audi TT spindles or H2sport you regain alot of the travel and get the geometry back in the front… im trying to find a set of the TT spindles. i dont ride the bumpstops. i have correct suspension, no cheap ebay or megan racing on my car… its just a poorly designed front spindle that makes going low on a mk4 hard.

I have a feeling with the IRS it would COMPLETELY throw the suspension geometry off, but i could be mistaken…
