i mean if 25 people (that posted about it on nasioc) in 4 years is hard numbers then i guess yea they did have a problem with it. also, some of those engines were modified, which still doesn’t show me that the stock tune and stock motor are prone to fail.
im not saying these engines are completely bullet proof in stock form, but you could argue that any car manufacturer had issues with engines, trannys, etc if you find the right people.
also, i love that lmgtfy site. i always get a good laugh out of it.
Keep the oil clean, keep it below 6500rpm, and don’t go clutch dumping the damn thing and it’ll be fine. Use a high shear strength oil like VR1(5w cold months, 10w in the very hot weather like july-august). Start messing with shit the wrong way or have hacks get into the tune expect a big bill when things go wrong.
They’re a damn reliable car when just left alone. To build them and get reliable power costs big money. Too much blah blah info in this thread from people who haven’t even cracked a case open and far to long of a post for me to explain it all in detail here.
Did you buy the blue premium sedan they have in stock? I was down there sat and drove it… put a deposit on a red wrx coming in sometime this week or so.
and FWIW…I may have a BRZ Limited coming up to the shop for storage before it gets shipped overseas. One of Roberts car buddies wants one and we’ve been trying to track one down for a few days now.
