I am currently in the middle of my vacation in california. I thought I’d give you guys a cap of my view of the car scene here. We flew to San Diego last week. San Diego= big huge 4x4’s. Everyone and there brother has a lifted 4x4 with big mudders. Also popular here and in L.A. are SUV’s with 22" and 24" rims. And chrome, everyone here has massive chrome rims. Pretty much any ride out there I have seen someone slap massive chrome rims on. I have taken a variety of pictures and will post them when I get back on the 23rd.
I would say that there are probably 5-10x more modified cars on the road here per capita than in Toronto. Body kits don’t seem to be popular here at all. I see very few body kits. Mostly just slammed rides with big chrome rims with nice offsets, very clean looking cars.
how about commenting on the police situation as i hear they are really bad out there

i’d say 1 in 4 cars on the road or close to it had aftermarket chromies of some sort, usually massive ones. it was pretty awesome
Same with florida. Every car/truck/suv and even mini vans have aftermarket rims at the least.
ahah I know exactly what you talkin about ima go there this summer ide be my 4th time… Ive seen cars with rims worth more than the ride. Cromey this year? 2 years ago it was the black with the chrome lip, anything from civic to corrola to suvs to Vans :S has rims there.
obviously the car scene is bigger out there, california has the population of the whole of canada, 30-32 million people thats why 1 out of every 5 cars or so are modded of some sort. not to even mention the type of weather they have all year long
and im not trying to be a punk, but i feel as if when people talk about things like this that its like you’re looking up to these people…i myself dont like looking at what other people have, i rather stick with what i have and be happy about it, do any of you guys think that any car forum in cal. has a thread on anythinG about Toronto? …im not tryin to be a dumbass im just trying to get my point accross, but i geuss not everyone thinks like that
I’m just trying to point out the different fads between SoCal and T.O.
So I went on the Hollywood, Santa Monica tour today and from my observations the sports cars of choice are 1. Porshe 911’s and boxters. 2. Nissan 350Z, 3. Beamers, 4.G35’s
Maybe it’s just the part of town I’ve been driving in but I have seen very few modified Honda’s anymore. But I’ve also only seen a few S-13’s, and they were beaters. I have seen a few sweet S-14’s though. Hard to get pics though as I always see them when I don’t have my camera and the ones I see are gone by the time my damn camera boots up. Damn, I need a quick start camera.
Im not lookin up to them at all, whats there to look up to a 92 rustbucket corrola with rims on it that look like someone would but the car, keep the rims and change the car. Californians are materialistic at a new level, thinking DUBS=Girls/Respect. This is true and fasle, im afraid not so true for our corrola friend but hey its somethin to talk about. I personally think the majority of californians are dumbasses, basing this on working there for a few months going to at least 5 people’s houses a day to install satellite dishes. But somehow the dumbest people can be really rich… and get 20s on thier vans. oh well. There are alot of skylines there too which is a pretty site.
naw man dont get me wrong im not trying to say you shouldn’t have started a thread on this, im just saying in general, personally i dont like the u.s that much, because the talk goes around that Canada tries to be like the u.s., and how america is the best country in the world and all that shit, that pisses me off, we have our own things goin on here, anyways i dont mind seeing the pics you took, i guess when it comes down to it we’re all in the car scene together, no one’s better than anyone else…but i think the reason why i dont like them at all is because they all have a feeling that they are better than the whole world

I’ve visited L.A. many times via work and havn’t found it to be radicly different than over here…the majority of cars on the freeway are Corollas and Civics.
Aside from affluent areas like Beverly Hills where SL500’s are everywhere It’s pretty much on par with what the scene is like over here…I dunno.
I’ll be in LA next week…however will be stuck in a dyno room at AEM for 48 hours. Good and bad I guess.
