OK, i tried to follow along… It was pretty hard for someone with such a limited intellegence as myself. I hope you do realize that your entire arguement is based on the assumption that companies will import foreign workers and then pay them 1/4 what an American worker would make. And we all know how assumptions work.
Either way, there is a labor shortage. That means that your IT salaries are already inflated. Could this bring them down a little bit? Yes. Will it make it so that your hypothetical Sonny will be chased out of the industry and go from banking 100Gs a year to flipping burgers? No, but if It did, I couldnt begin to imagine the increase in hilarity of his “i hate my coworkers” posts. If there were a shortage of qualified pizza delivery drivers and Pizza Hut had to hire mentally handicapped illegals from Cambodia to deliver pizza for $25/hr what do you think it would to to their business. A pizza would cost $30, and the customer service would be horrible because retarded Cambodians cant really deliver pizzas very well. Paying underskilled employees highly inflated wages is not profitable for companies.
Heres another possibility: Company A who is a very IT personnel intensive company who is damned to hiring underqualified employees and paying them high wages and still cant fill all their IT positions can now fully staff their IT department with exceptional employees at a more reasonable wage. They are now a more profitable and efficient company. They can now lower the prices on the produts they sell and can afford to pay their other employees a higher wage. Now everyone is making enough money to go on vacation. My hotel is sold out 365 days a year, the pool is a huge hit, and my hotel buys me an Enzo, a kilo of coke and 3 Scanadavian hookers as appreciation for my tireless work.
fixed. And theres nothing wrong with that. If his company was fully staffed by competent American workers and he was doing this, thats one thing. And this option is much better than him picking up anchor and moving his whole company to Asia, and then all the American workers would lose their jobs.
well saving money is more profit!!! andbeing that he’s ‘cutting’ wages by relocating the workforce… he’s saving the budgeted wage for the next year. :kekegay:
Apparently you have never had to keep updates to a large linux user department as well, it’s just as difficult and time consuming as a windows network, the only advantage is the tools to automate it are already there, but it’s still a nightmare. If Linux was 90% of the market you’d be bitching about all the security problems with it as well, it’s not bulletproof either. Again you go off making statements about shit you have no idea about.
You have no idea what it takes to be an IT employee these days, you are expected to work long hours, know every subject, and be on call 24x7x365 by your favorite cell/pager/electronic device. If anything we are underpaid and overworked, but this is quite common in the EU sector. But you have never lived there though and had an IT job right?
When was the last time you seen anyone cut prices on their products since they were able to reduce internal costs, I’ve been working for a while now and not once have I ever seen that… ever… Oh and when they remove the restrictions on the visa your hotel would more than likely hire a familiy for 1/2 of what you make and they would eat shit and live in the hotel in the fucking basement cause that’s better than living in some shithole in pakistan where they are getting shot/killed/raped.
USA has to draw the line somewhere with its standard of living. Unless they want to inflate the economy even more than it already is by allowing more foriegners in, laying more Americans off that collect unemployement from the Fed., I dont think it will happen. If it does, kiss our asses goodbye in the next 30 years
How can we compete with China who has multiple millions of workers who will work for $80-100 per month in very hostile environments. We as a country can not compete with that, very few can.
He’s in a blind hatred for our government, he needs to move to some other country and find out how nice the US is. We aren’t perfect but damn we aren’t that bad.
Engineers, Scientists, Architects, and Doctors. I dont think I have anything to worry about. There is a shortage of IT people in the US. Microsoft cant hire enough Americans because there arent enough Americans, I doubt these Asian imports will get paid any less than their American counterparts. These are the smart people, not burger flippers. Not the tech supoprt guys that read out of a book. They managed to become accomplished IT guys and Im sure arent being paid $10 a day to work like some Cambodian kid stitching together Nikes. When they come to the US they arent gonna work for a $15K salary. If they are living in the US, they have to deal with the US’s cost of living. How would the office be if half of the guys (the Americans)were making $80K a year and all of the foreigners are making $30K? YOu guys act like we are opening up the gate on the Mexican border and screaming “C’mon i!!!”
they might be able to live off of $80 a month in China, but tell me how they fuck they will live off $80 a month in the US? Is Microsoft gonna buy out Motel 6 to put them up and then buy the Ramen Soup company to keep them all fed? We’re not talking about outsourcing. Read the article, read the thread, get yourself up to speed and then post your comments.
I hate to tell you something, but yah they do pay them about half of what we make… I’ve just gone through watching almost every American Engineer at Marconi get laid off and replaced with a fresh one from India making about half of what the others do…
You are talking about things that you don’t know about, increasing the # of work visa’s is retarded when we have more than enough people here to do the work.
Yah but it gives you an idea of what we are up against, if they are making $80 a month in China doesn’t $3000 a month sound like a huge increase? So you get your job in the US, get your H1B and work your ass off for 2 years living in some shithole slum lord apt, with no car/health insurance, riding the bus and banking $1000 per month, aka 1 year of your salary in China.
So now you have a motivated employee that’s making 36,000 a year and think he’s rolling in the bank cause he’s going home with 12-15k in his pocket that he can live off of for 10-20 years in China.
Do you see the whole picture now or do I need some crayons to draw it out for you?
