Here’s a good way you could’ve solved your issues…

Do everything on the car yourself! Since you want to stir up trouble… OK. How about you and “your new mechanic” talking shit about how Joe did this and that wrong on the MR2 and making fun of him… only to have “your new mechanic” call Joe in for help on a recent project?

Look at why you are talking shit. You paid somebody to do stuff that you didn’t plan on paying for. You are upset because your car wasn’t on the road when you got home from school or whatever… it really doesn’t seem like a big deal to me at all. If he doesn’t want to work on your car, my car, whoever’s car… then so be it. The only thing being spent is his time.

I did/am doing work on the car myself, hopefully I’ll be at the point where I don’t need anybody for shit besides welding soon. Cars are just a hobby for me, I think I’m doing just fine for a finance major with zero car background. I’m also not really looking for advice.

How is he possibly not in the wrong when I relied on him for something that he did not come through on? And for the ten MILLIONTH time he is a MORE than adequate mechanic, never once said that he wasn’t. He just only likes working on the car of the week and if he’s halfway through something and doesn’t want to finish it, he’s gone.

Also, I don’t know who would want someone working on their car who is 19 and doesn’t have a driver’s license, a job, plans to get a job, plans to go to school, or plans to do anything with their life. I’ve been telling him for 4 years to get off his ass and quit working on people’s cars for next to nothing and get a real fucking job with his skills, he hasn’t done shit.
