I know this merger is only in the very earliest stage of negotiation, but how do you feel about it?
dumb. chrysler sucks
two failing companies merging won’t create one successful company IMO.

I disagree. If done properly, it will work. Cut the number of suits in half, streamline the product line, take advantage of the economic crisis by plugging how America benefits when GM is successful, and PUT OUT CARS AMERICANS WANT!

chrysler damn near killed Mercedes because their products suck so bad and they will do the same with GM.
Chrysler is still in business?
I fail to see how it won’t. Post merger, sell off Saab, possibly sell off Jeep/Hummer, put Chrysler + Cadillac on the same assembly lines, axe some of the redundant brands (Pontiac, Buick, GMC), etc…

they were a sinking ship as soon as they merged. chrysler is bound to do the same with any other car company.
If GM were to purely do an asset purchase as opposed to a merger, it could work. They could buy up the assets of Chrysler (the plants, machinery, patents, inventories, etc.) and use their existing workforce (hopefully trimmed down some) to produce some decent cars. I think the minute that you let any of the current members of Chrysler make any kind of decision concerning the design or engineering of the cars, you are bound for failure. Just buy up the assets and get rid of the executives. I am sure that Chrysler would never go for this though.
buy chrysler and shit can it. that’s the only way it would work out
Ohwell.
when Pepsi and Coke merge I 'll give a shit.
Isn’t Cerberus asking for a stake in GMAC? I thought I remembered reading something along those lines.
Yea I think it something closer to that, combining financial institutions to reduce cost as this article states.
BTW I wouldn’t be surprised if this all turned up for nothing. GM already went to Ford first asking if they wanted to talk. Ford decided they were better off on their own.
if the government can bailout banks, they should bailout Big manufacturing plants.
Keep the jobs in america. it’s a circle. more jobs here more revenue in taxes.
