horrible.
At least the ump admitted it was a blown call and apologized. The NHL would have invented a new rule and claimed it was the right call like they did with No Goal.
nobody’s perfect

GET IT!?
I think they should change it and give it to the kid.
Umpires have been running a muck this season. They are getting out of control and trying to become a part of the attraction… Bud better step in soon before it get’s worse.
Yeah people are not happy in Detroit.
At least the pitcher is taking it well and the ump seemed emotionally upset about it.
But really even if it was a tie, tie goes to the pitcher in that situation.
I would think you’d err on the side of giving the perfect game on the last out rather than ruining it.
IDK what he was thinking.
So the Govenor of Michigan is lobbying for this guy to get a perfect game. Glad that Michigan’s in such great shape, so that she doesn’t have anything else to worry about
Pitcher was just presented with a '10 Corvette today, too.
no bisons no care
but he did get robbed
Waiting for someone to complain about poor use of tax payers dollars.
The free good will advertising is easily worth $50k.
he still got a vetter out of the deal haha. I havent seen the play yet tho
Not just a Vette but a vert Grand Sport, close to a $60k tag.
Not bad for a guy throwing Triple A ball in March and April.
Bud Sea-leg is a piece of shit.
truth.
Why?
he wont reverse the call!!
Well then he’s gotta do it for past blown calls, and future ones. As much as the ump should be castrated and the outcome overturned, it won’t.
He shouldn’t. The call didn’t even change the outcome of the game like so many others already have this season alone. It was a meaningless game between two terrible teams that will not change any type of playoff hopes for either team. There are sooo many more games that should have had calls overturned before even thinking about applying that particular bylaw to this. Honestly its better for the pitcher this way. He would have been forgotten by next year if he got the game. This guy will always be remembered now and in his mind he threw the game and has the visual proof. It might not be official but even the pitcher isn’t that concerned with it or making a big deal out of it.
You are an idiot. Jim Joyce is one of the best umpires in the game, and that is coming from everyone in baseball including players. This guy made a bad call and owned his mistake immediately without excuses. It takes a real class act to come forward in a situation such as this say he was wrong. Just because you make a bad you are automatically a bad umpire? Every ump makes a bad call. If someone should be fired it should be Joe West.
forgot my </sarcasm>
