You work at a tire place and you don’t know that passenger car tire tread depth is molded at 10/32nds? 10/32nds =! 1/2 an inch. Furthermore NYS law recomends 2/32nds so the maxima difference is 8/32nds from new to properly warn. That is a 1/4 deviation, for an OE difference in wheel speed from new to properly worn of 1.978679…%
