So I’m in Philadelphia this week for work. I had some spare time so I took a drive to a guys house that I met on another message board. He has what I really have been thinking about building. It’s a 1959 Lyndwood dragster, 98" wheel base with a blown injected small block. about as bare bones as you can get. just fill up the block with water start it and make a pass… open the petcocks and drain out the water on the return road. He told me the engine makes 970hp to the crank and is 1300lbs. It runs low 9’s with the wheels smoking the whole way. He said that’s how you run em’, out of the groove off in the slop. “If you launch in the groove the car will flip over.” These cars are outlawed by the NHRA due to the cage. You can make em’ teck but you have to add some more tubes. He said that he will not add anything to the car cuz it’s how it was in '59, so he can only run it a few times a year.
My plan is to build the chassis so it will pass NHRA tec. just so I can run it as much as I can. I will not be doing any 1/4 mile smoke shows either :ohnoes. and the engine will be very mild. I just want to have some fun and get my feet wet with a real dragster. Not a slow civic like I’m used to. Now the first thing I need to do is go get some tube!! Wish me luck!! ;D
Good Day!!! Not Odd…

youre nuts bro. ;D
wtf, that’s awesome!
That’s pretty cool, real fast too…wouldn’t expect that from that thing!
That thing is sick! But I do have one concern.

That is a little to close to the family jewels for me lol. Expecially with 900+…
haha, that’s why it’s so bad ass! Just sitting in it makes you feel like the HNIC!
Those things are so cool, but a rear end exploding on your junk would definately be a nightmare, lol
awesome…i love your taste in vehicles.
thats what the scatter shield over the back of the carrier is for… would it work… well i wouldnt want to find out
id rather not die riding on an engine lmao…looks like fun though
hahah no joke…
that is definitely badass…I was going to say the same thing about the rearend… doesn’t look like the rearend is anything special either… regular ol 9". yikes :umm
thats taking nut tap to the extreme
I got all the tube I need for the build today!!! Thanks to Bryan at the metal supermarket… I also got a spool and a spare engine from my good friend Bryan Hallenbek. It’s a built up small block that made his 2800lb. car go 9.8’s I still need a 9" and trans. Who’s got some spare parts??
I want to check this build out!
hell ya old school car r the sex
That thing is sick, old school is they way to go, good luck with the build dude, I can probably find you a rear, you looking for a done rear or just a core?
