95 STANG

I’ve just started to tear apart my 95 Stang because the transmission is done shot. I’ve gotten the interior stripped and almost all of the engine and transmission out. The hood and doors are off too. Basically, right now, Im stripping the car down to start a complete rebuild. Im not sure what Im going to do when it’s all stripped though. I want to keep the car street legal but I still want a one of a kind bad ass powerhouse. If anyone has any ideas pertaining to an engine and drivetrain, suspension, steering, and interior setups please let me know. I’m not doing anything tomorrow and will have time to take pictures and post them up on wednesday.

good luck

is it a GT??

so how fast do you want to go and what do you want to spend?

it’s not a GT. It was originally a V6. I dont really care how fast I go. I just want a lot of torgue and power. Not really sure how much I want to spend either.

Take this very seriously, its not a joke. Put a diesel in it.

 but if so that would DEF be one of a kind and a powerhouse

Are you dead serious about putting a diesel in it? Im not too sure how much I like that idea. I’ll consider it. Do you think it would go in pretty easy? Diesel or not I really need to find an engine. I was originally looking at dropping in a 460. I found one online that looked and sounded good. I would like to do something like in this link… http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1605967715428087583&q=big+block+mustang&hl=en …If anyone happens to have a big block laying around or knows anyone who might have one or possible a diesel, send them my way because like I said, I need an engine first. Actually, if anyone has any old mustang parts laying around or an old stang they would like to part out, I could use the parts. Sitting in the garage right now is basically just a body. If anyone has any more ideas or has some input on the diesel idea, let me know.

Oh, there is tons of stuff for diesels. You would have to do a bunch of reinforcement to get you chassis to handle the power. I’ll try to find you some links tonight.

I have a DOHC 4.6 out of a 96 Lincoln Mark VIII sitting in my garage on a motor stand, I was thinking about rebuilding it and putting it in my 95 T-Bird, but Im thinking of going a different route with it. There are a ton of parts and endless possibilities for it. I would let it go for $450, it only has 60k on it, and it runs fine. I bought the entire lincoln from a body shop, it was abandoned there for 3 years, and the guy was no where to be found, so he let me hear the car run and I towed it to my house, took out the motor tranny and driveshaft and put the tranny and driveshaft in my car. I have another 4R70W transmission as well that came out of my car, but it needs a rebuild. I’ll give it to you if you buy the motor. I can also show you the modifications I made to the 4R70W that came out of the Lincoln. it made my T-Bird shift alot more firm, and will chirp 1st to 2nd with no problems on a completely stock SOHC 4.6. PM me if I can be of any help to you, or if you are interested in the motor.

Thanks. I’m looking at getting myself into a huge project with the diesel aren’t I? Whatever. It will be fun. Do you know of anyone who might have a diesel for sale? I’m still not sure about it but I am considering it. Just in case I dont go with the diesel, do you happen to know anyone with a big block ford engine for sale?

Thanks Ryan. I already have a 4.6 sitting in the garage though. I was originally going to build it up and put it in my mustang but I really want to go with something bigger. I do have a friend who is going to be doing a project on his 99 Ranger and could really use that engine. I’ll tell him to get in touch with you about it.

thats one bad ass motor

351w based engine should bolt in, a big block will not. whatever you do don’t mess around with a 302 based engine unless you get one for free.

As far as a diesel, it would be neat for the novelty factor. But not so hot for going fast. A powerstroke is a big heavy chunk of iron to bolt to the front of a mustang.

truth

“Original” is defined as time consuming and very expensive.

Fuck original…put a proven small block combo under the hood and be happy. Get a goofy paintjob if original is your goal.

that would be easy…not original. I have all the time in the world to get this car done. I’ll take my time and empty my pockets to be original!

Well i’m still in the prosess of demolishing the mustang. i finally got the engine and transmission out last night. the fenders and front bumper are off too. All that is left to do is strip the interior and prep that and the engine compartment for paint. Then it will be on the the build! I think I’m going to go with the 351 as well. I dont want to do the diesel and the 5.0 just isnt enough. All I have to do is find one now…

I’m looking at doing something like this in the Stang. Maybe a blower on top or something. I’m still unsure but what would you guys think about that?
