Tokyo Auto Salon

I was wondering if any members were going to TAS this coming year?

no but i might be going to japan in the summer if things all work out.

planning on going over with a japanese friend and stay at his friends houses so it will be rather cheap.

plus one of them owns an r34

i will most definatley in my lifetime go to tas though.

That sucks… Chances are i am going to be this year… I am just wondering if any members from Son were going… Possibly meet up and get drunk on sake.

I cant wait to see all those sexy Skylines just waiting to be driven hehe…

I am still debating whether or not i should get a Digital SLR Camera to take pictures… as it stands… my buddy and i have about 4 cameras… but i think we need to invest in some memory cards or something…

well sure, if you are looking to spend 800 dollars and up for one. and thats used.

Digital SLRs aren’t really worth it imo. I have a point and shoot Olympus digicam, and an ol’ school Russian Zenith SLR. I use each for different things. The digicam I take normal pics with, and the SLR I usually do B&W work only, and not so much lately. I develop my pics at my old high school’s dark room, teacher knows me, he’s cool with it
For snapping pics of cars, u’re way better off with a point and shoot, saves u time and money.

not when you are taking pictures of moving cars…

you want to be able to have no delay and the ability to shoot rapid fire shots so you have a better chance of getting the perfect picture.

trust me the things you do with a digital slr can save you work in the adobe photoshop.

what would be cool is if i can get a negative scanner for my slr pictures. if there is such a thing

Oh, I thought you would be taking stills.
And lots of scanners have a negative option built in or as an addon, not sure how much the addon is, but we have ones that have it built in going for 100-150 bucks at staples.

And you’ve owned a Digital SLR or even used one for a day?

I’ve had a couple point-and-shoot digital cameras and I’m never impressed. My brother has a Nikon D70 ($1000±200) digital SLR and I borrowed it for a day. Not only can you interchange the film SLR lens you have instant processing, hence digital. Since you have the option to change lens you can get point and shoot capabilities while producing better pictures. You will also have more options/control such as a fill flash, regular flash and manual aperture (f-stop)/shutter speed control. (A whole lot more not worh listing)

In my opinion it’s better to have the options available. Here’s what the D70 is currently used for:

  1. Moving object (between the speeds of 35-80MPH)
  2. Portraits (50mm fixed lens)
  3. Random photography – nature, object and family events.

Some pictures have been published… I for one have a digital SLR on my wish list…

Negative scanners never produce the same quality; it’s like taking a picture through a window.

I was looking for a Digital SLR because of not only it’s ability to use different lenses, filters, etc, but the fact that i will be saving hundreds of dollars on film.

yeah i might be going if things work out. not sure yet.

I would love to go to this. But i dont want to pay for the trip down, and wouldnt look forward to a long arse airplane ride, and since i dont have a teleporter looks like im outta luck. Whoever does go from here take TONS of pics.

d70 is entry level digital slr. it is aimed at competing with the canon rebel.

d70 is better

you can get one used from henrys for 800 dollars

i wish i could go to the TAS. don’t know if i’d be looking at cars with all the drift queens there!!!

LOL

Well if anyone is headed up, email me at neorx2@rogers.com, and maybe we can meet up and party in Japan.

Pics will be coming… I just wonder how much space i am going to need…

Currently looking for some hosting for the TAS pics…

Over a gig worth of pics…

anyone willing to host such an amount?

even separate smaller chuncks would be nice… maybe i could separate the ladies from the cars?

Just choose the good ones …
