Figured I’d update this thread now that I actually bought something.
I ordered a J’s Racing 60RS stainless single exit in the 2-piece model so it can be shipped air mail and not in a container. So I should have it next month instead of next year.
Big Red Dave will be un-jankifying my front fenders and respraying those so they look OEM again.
Ill be buying another set of tires too. The R888’s lasted about 7500 miles on the street so far. I can probably pull another 2000 out of them.
The color will kind of wear off the stainless after a while. Least thats what happened to the old stainless tip i had on the lexus when it had the big muffler
More non-exciting updates about the slowest car in the world.
Removed my stock dual exhaust that weighs approximately 50lbs and replaced it with the single exit J’s. During a cold start/idle it sounds great, nice and deep tone. Ill have to see what it’s like under load after I change the oil, air filter, blah blah.
just remember in the last 2.5 years the only progress on my rx7 is removing the motor/tranny. and it prob wont move for another 4 :lol thats a slower moving build then yours.
unfortunately with how much a complete fd shell is worth that would be the smart move going into law school but i really want to just let it sit and build it. if i have to sell it another fd shell will replace it when i graduate, love the car.
i’d prob ask 5500 for mine, usually shells with no motor/tranny but complete interior go for 5k i saw one the other day that was blown up but still together with a few mods asking for 8k the other day.
3k will get you a stripped shell/roller, no interior. theres a pretty nasty ex race car shell for 2500 right now, no title though.
interior on the car is money, to convert over to black interior will run u a couple grand alone.
law schools expensive. if i sell it it will be early summer, but im hoping to have an income soon instead so i can have a couple gs in the bank before class starts.
Changed my oil, air filter (original from 2001 was on the car lol), rotated my tires and tested out the exhaust this afternoon. Sounds pretty good! Not loud at all, not much drone.
This will probably be my last time on R888’s unless my next tire choice fits and looks like shit. The tires wear fairly quickly under normal driving and Id probably have to end up buying two sets a year, which is a lot for a car I put 5,000 miles on a year. I’m going to try a set of 265/40-17 Bridgestone RE760. That way I wont die in a freak rainstorm or puddle.
