I want to maintain a glimmer of hope for a $1500 car challenge with an American perspective. Top Gear goes ricer.
as far as im concerned after watching that travesty the only thing that ill be watching at 10pm on sunday night is the walking dead.
I really liked it. it got better and better as the show went on, and even my mom and dad liked watching it, and they aren’t into cars. I personally like tanner as a host, he is the one to pick on lol. He also seems to be a better driver than any of the uk hosts. My least favorite is rutledge. He seems like someone i would find annoying in real life. They really only seem to be having fun in the Lamborghini portion. hopefully more of the show is like that.
The track seems great, and we shouldn’t have to deal with those stupid wet laps… I wish they had made more of a joke about the stig, they explained that he will never speak, or be seen, but it wasn’t funny.
One thing they really really need to stop is referencing the dukes of hazard… that’s not cool lol.
the viper vs cobra chopper chase seemed forced, and not all that impressive.
I thought it definitely got better towards the end. I’ll keep watching.
definitely waiting for original top gear season 16 when Clarkson will rip apart top gear usa in the news section.
without the whole British thing going on, half the show is gone
me too, its not like the cast has been doing it for years.
I dvr’d it. The commercials showing the beater challenge looked ok.
soo i started watching it last night… and well i fell asleep half way through…buddy’s mole kept pissing me off…but everyone is saying it gets better near the end so i have to give it another chance and finish it off
everybody wants this to live up to the last episode of the original top gear which they’ve now been perfecting for over a decade.
I think it was a decent start with a lot of room to improve.
This was literally the worst bit of automotive TV I’ve EVER seen.
If anyone remembered watching the first season of Top Gear UK, you’d remember how wooden everyone was. Chemistry takes time, and I’ve read from advance reviews the hosts become more and more in tune with each other. Watching the ACR and SV on that track was great, it’s a much bigger runway.
The only thing I’m not crazy on was Aldrin’s interview and some of the music / editing was hokey, especially during the Cobra vs. Viper segment. I think Rutledge and Adam will end up being pretty funny together, Tanner is about as entertaining as clipping toenails.
It’s not going to be Top Gear UK, we know that. I hope History gives it time to mature, and doesn’t clip the show’s wings before it can come into it’s own. All in all, I’ll be watching next week.
Hosts are card readers and need to put some passion into the job. They followed the already proven blue print of the show, now they just need some characters to host it.
Side note* most of the in car video was very shaky, seemed poorly done. I think Tanner Foust did a much better job than the other 2 assclowns.
anyone got a link to watch it online or download it?
I turned it off about halfway through last night because it just wasn’t grabbing me at all. It’s interesting to see that everyone thought it got better towards the end, maybe I need to re-watch it.
There definitely is no chemistry between the hosts yet, which is one of the things that makes the original Top Gear so spectacular. I agree that we need to give it time for that to evolve, but all in all I’m not really sure I care if these three mesh. Clarkson, Hammond, and May work so well together because they’re all so different and all three of them have distinct personalities; I felt that all three hosts on Top Gear US were more or less the same. Again, I may be proven wrong in time.
I’ll try again next week.
meh.
Watched a bit last night. The music and editing reminded me of a god awful episode of fucking “American Chopper” or some fucking garbage. It felt forced, and contrived… AND FUCK ME RUNNING that fat guy’s laugh makes me want to punch a baby.
I’ll watch the whole thing sometime soon to give it a fair shake.
You haven’t watched nascar have you?
IMO it was WAY better than bullrun, battle of the supercars, motor week etc. I don’t know how anyone can say that was worse than motor week lol
I also hate that dude’s brooklyn or boston accent or whatever it is. Drives me up a wall.
It was REALLY bad. The bar is sooo low in the US I really thought it had a chance of being the best (what do we have to compare it to? Chasing classic cars?) I’m not expecting it to be as good as even the first season of BBC’s Top Gear, but I want it to at least be easily watchable without pissing me off.
