We have (well, the owner of the dealership does) a '71 Grabber Blue BOSS 351. It’s been what I would consider to be lightly resto-modded. Warmed over 351, (the original engine is on a stand covered in plastic) T5 manual trans, newer suspension bits, disc brakes on all four corners, etc…
This is from the government’s reg page about the plate. It’s been on that car since '91. Maybe they wanted to use the car because of the plate? Either way, they removed the plate and changed it after the first day or something like that.
^ Yeah, I’m not denying the plate was on the car since 91. I’m just saying they knew what that plate meant to that area and brought it anyway, and very well might have searched for a vehicle with a plate that made some sort of Falklands reference.
Did anyone read Clarkson’s whole writeup in the UK Telegraph? Basically the whole thing smells like political manipulation and a setup during an election year. That could be his scapegoat, but he makes a decent argument for it.
"We would have had to gather the whole team and say: “Sod what the cars are for this trip, just find one that’s registered with a number plate containing 982 and FKL.” The plate was a genuine plate, remember, not one we made up.
"So our researchers would have got on the phone to the DVLA, asked them if such a car existed, and then when the DVLA came back and said, “There is, actually, on a Porsche 928,” we’d have then asked for the details of the owner.
"At this point the DVLA would have refused, because that would be a contravention of the Data Protection Act (and they don’t pass on requests the other way to specific owners). So let’s say we persevere and obtain, probably illegally, the details of the owner of that car.
“Then what? Then we would have to knock on his door and try and persuade him to sell us his car. And all this because we’re desperate to find a number plate with joke numbers and letters on it. It’s just nonsense beyond belief.”
Well it’s either you believe they simply overlooked the plate, or you believe it’s some massive conspiracy involving many people to find and use that plate, keep the whole thing hush and arrange for all those people including the Argentinian staff who were there helping to tell the exact same story.

what is newshosting? is it worth it? do i have to worrie about paying for it and it getting shut down?
I was um notified by FIOS about my obtaining my tv shows… Id like to find a new way that will keep them off me back.
About the only thing that has changed since that thread is that nzbmatrix and newzbin have both been taken down. There are still lots of other index sites out there though. For $5 I can get you an invite to a private one I’m on that has been up for 2 years now (costs me a $5 donation per person I want to invite). Stuff gets pulled from the usenet servers but I don’t see usenet getting shutdown. I’ve automated my movie and tv downloads using Couchpotato and Sickbeard so anything I want gets downloaded before anyone gets a chance to have them pulled off the servers. Couple hundred GB a month, 10.6 TB since my downloader’s stats last reset and not a single notice from Verizon.
