traffic ALERT 9-10-2009

At this time the I- 290 (Youngman Expressway) is closed to traffic in both the East and West directions at the main street exit due to a overturned tanker truck. It is unknown how long it will be closed.

jesus christ… what a tie up thats gonna be

Its going to be there for a while its on its side on bridge…

are there security cameras anywhere there?

Tanker truck > Fry

lol fry is stuck in that.

:bat:

edit: get outta my head joe

Just passed the entrance/exit to the 290 coming back from Rochester, couldn’t see much but a shitload of traffic backed up on the east bound 90.

This better be gone and done with by 5.

AH pain in the ass. I gotta go to UB soon. Thanks alot for the heads up:tup::tup:

I missed the flip over by 5 min. I drove under it going West bound right at 1:10 and they werent sending traffic off yet. I guess its spilling Kerosene

it’s not gonna be a quick fix. They will probably need to empty the truck first into another tanker…then bring one or two cranes stationed on the 290 in to flip it up right. There’s no room on that bridge to do anything but work off of the road below.

i HIGHLY doubt it will be clear by 5.

Also just missed this. Holler!

Was anyone hurt?

from twitter

Saw the 290 accident as it happened! Fuel was POURING out of the tanker… photo here: Truck on Main St offramp overpass spewing deisel... just happened in front of me #buffalo

I didn’t see anything pouring and I drove under around the same time as that picture…however I was going 65.

So both Main and the 290 are closed. That’s gonna suck for rush hour.

EDIT:
You know, if you were just browsing google maps picking a spot to really fuck traffic up with an overturned tanker I don’t think you could do much better than closing main and the 290 in both directions with one truck.

Looks like its straight up Kensington for the ride home FTL.

Nice pic
