Anyone taken the train recently? Short notice trip so its super cheap versus flying.
Looking to drive there and park there. Trip will be about 4 full days and returning to the same station. Any suggestions for parking around there and getting in and out?
Pretty much what I was thinking. Short notice trip so going to work on the train the entire way and not take a day off. Wanted to make sure the lot was close to it and there was parking to leave a car for a few days. Not leaving loose diamonds in my car but wanted to make sure I came back at 1130pm at night and was able to get there and have a car still.
No delays on my trip right to and from Grand Central. Train not full at all. Plenty of space to work and some of the most interesting views on the trip. Views you won’t get any other way.
Moved to next week. Would have been too much running around trying to get my presentation done, getting to Penn, unloading my stuff in Boken and then getting back to Wall Street. Figure will give it a shot and give myself some leeway
I take the train to Albany a few times a year. It’s usually about an hour late but just based on the price I don’t really care. I like that I can watch a movie, take a nap or walk around instead of driving.
Yea its great for the price. I mean $130 to go right into Penn removes the $150 car service to and from JFK and the parking at the airport, have my bags, and just work two of the days down and back.
Wasn’t bad over all for anyone curious about taking it.
Depew station has a lot. Just go in, show your ticket and they give you a pass for your car for free parking. Left my car there for 5 days. The only issue is planning on working on the train is spotty at best for wifi. Had trouble staying connected to my VPN and remote sessions. Lots of time it was out and even cell service was spotty. I am on ATT and had issues streaming media and some windows of no service. My friend next to me had Verizon with similar issues. For $130 round trip and not having to pay the $120 round trip to JFK and $70 to park my car at the airport, it was awesome.
I should have taken the train instead of the Greyhound bus I took to Pittsburgh to pick up my truck a couple years ago. It was terrible! The bathroom was backing up, the bus had no heat and it was obvious that it had a leaking radiator.
Yea was surprised. The ride back had a “dining” car which wasn’t bad. Nice to move around and bigger seats. The only disappointment was the wifi and lack of cell service for about 1/3 of the trip.
