So I go shooting out in the desert out here, thinking of buying a cheap off-road beater cuz some of the spots requires mild off roading (gravel) to get to…4x4 preferred, but I think I could manage w/ RWD only

What should I get haha? Figure a budget of like 3-4k max

I was thinking an older Wrangler maybe but not much cargo room for a table, rifles etc…

How about an old chevy truck? I figure if the motor/tranny go, I can swap in an LT1/LS1 right? What years should I look for?

Jeep cherokee or grand cherokee with a 4.0 will run for ever and good off road. And if you get the itch to make it more off road worthy there is a million options. Also will be cheaper than a wrangler and typically more available.

Some good prices on like 99-03 ish Cherokee/GC’s… I’m sort of debating an actual pick em up truck in case I ever wanna transport ATV’s or a motorcycle…i suppose I could just get a trailer

Rot, rust, gearbox… You can find many cherokee’s out there that the PO dumped stupid money into.
