I was looking around for a few months at used 2010-2013 Camaro’s but they hold their value remarkably well. Most were $28k-$33k. Why pay $28k for a 40,000 mile 2010 with hardly any warranty left, when I can get a brand new one for not much more? I sent Dave a pm on here about ordering a 2014 1LE SS, and he sent a reply with a very generous offer for me to order one. Most guys across the country are paying MSRP on '14’s since everyone still has '13’s on their lot. I went down there the following weekend, put some money down, and placed my order, August 25th. 2 days later he gave me a 6-digit tracking code. You can go right to Chevy’s website and track it, or plug the number into a section on Camaro5.com and they will tell you where it’s at. The car was built on Tuesday the 24th of September, but it had to get taken off of the assembly line to get the hood wrapped by hand. That process takes a few days. Finally it was delivered Wednesday October 2nd. I went down and picked it up Thursday. The guys in the shop doing the pdi were installing the splitter, since it can’t be done on the assembly line or it will get ripped off on the transport truck.
It only has a few options. It’s a 1SS (which is the lowest trim level V-8), with 1LE, dual mode exhaust, Crystal Red premium paint, and the Boston Acoustic sound system. It’s easy to add $7k-$8k in “fluff” options to a new car, so I tried to keep it pretty simple. The 1LE package is simply an amazing deal. It basically gets the SS to handle on par with the BOSS Mustang and ZL-1 Camaro, for a fraction of the cost. The main things in the 1LE package are:
20" ZL-1 wheels, 20"x10" front, 20"x11" rear
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires 285/30 on all 4 corners
Mono tube rear shocks, different valved front shocks
Much bigger sway bars front and back
flat bottom wheel, and short throw shifter from the ZL-1 (best shifter EVER)
Tremec TR6060 close ratio transmission, with 3.91 rear gears
flat black hood wrap, special front splitter, rear spoiler, rear diffuser
3 fuel tank pickups, and a bunch of heavy-duty ZL-1 end links in back

Vintage edit:
Dave assigned a salesman to me, Robert Bell. I didn’t know why at the time, but most likely it was because he knew he would be at their new dealership when my car arrived. Robert was cool as could be. He ended up saving me $285 more after plugging in my GM supplier discount. I had no idea it was any good, I always had thought it sucked, lol. Then he took my car across the street and filled the tank with 93 after the guys waxed it. Just first class treatment, I couldn’t be happier.
So far it has 115 miles and already has a kill under it belt. Absolutely the best shifter I’ve ever used. Lays 6-7 feet of rubber in 2nd, and even the 2-3 shift is easy. It has the best exhaust note i’ve ever heard for a factory car. Steering is phenomenal for a car this heavy. You never really get the impression that it is 3800lbs. I can’t figure out the radio touch screen for the life of me, lol, and the visibility out the back is not so good. Overall i’m super impressed with it though.
Thanks again to Basil!!!
