started work at 9am friday…turbo mounted/coolant/oil plumbed by 9pm, couldn’t find any of the right parts, thats why it took so long…
saturday morning, started plumbing for intercooler, and made the downpipe…
sund, everything mount, start it up, let it run… turns out oil seals inside turbo are blown, and it smokes like a bitch, and slowly drips oil…
by about 5pm today (sunday) put all the n/a gear back on…
very pissed off…but…got most of the work done…
and to the motherfucker that sold me the turbo… :madfawk:
I turbo’d one car once where it was smokeing really bad once i got it running, and pulled my hair out b/c my new turbo *i thought was bad. Turned out that one of the breather lines was pulling oil up and blowing it into the intake. Might want to check that… all i did was mock up a catch can.
shalerpunk- ya man, i saw you the other day…we both kinda stared at each other…did you use to deliver pars for mccandless auto parts???
anyway, i’m pretty sure the turbo is blowing oil, my passenger side engine bay is covered w/ oil… but what i’m gonna do is, send it to dallas turbo, they said they’d check it for free, and than send it back if nothing was wrong…
garrett turbos do not like to have a lot of oil pressure at idle, too small of a return line will also cause billowing smoke, garrett center sections have an oil bypass on them that if pressure is too high in the cartridge it will push oil out the housing.
alright whitey i’ll let you know, but i need to check out a place in butler that rebuild turbo’s if their price isn’t like 250 or more, i’ll probably just get it rebuilt, if not i’ll probably just get yours…
