smoked two 350 montes last night with my 305. it was really pathetic, i’m sure they’ll say otherwise but it was car lengths almost instantly and then bus lengths. i got a carb and intake and thats it and i had to hear pissing and moaning about it. thats maybe what? 20 hp on a stock 305?
were they nice or all clapped out? should that even happen under normal circumstances?
i think one was partialy ghetto rigged. my best time is a 15.3 so they were pretty slow.
oh well. take the win and dont question anything. it was your superior driving :eek4:

true…a lot of 350’s are turds…but that 305 isnt the best motor either.

Didn’t all 80s Monte Carlo SS’s come with the 305 as well?
I’d be pretty upset if I swapped my motor out for a 350, only to go down to a 305 powered same-platformed car.
both cars were non-SS but yes, all american made monte SS’s had high output L69 305’s. some 84 mexican monte SS’s had 350 with a 4 speed.
Hell, if they’d offered the Monte SS with a 350 and 4-speed here, I’d probably own one…always liked the way those cars looked, and there’s a special place in my heart for 4-speed cars.
