1954 chevy C1500

My pap gave me a 1954 Chevy C1500. It needs alot of work still. I got an 82 frame that i sand blasted, and repainted it with mack black under coating. Soon im putting a chevy 350 out of an older grand prix on the frame. Then i am putting the 54’ cab onto it and replacing some body parts (grill, cab corners, ect.) along with completly redoing the interior. After all that is done i am putting a stainless steel flat bed onto it. If someone would tell me how to put pictures in a post ill put some up

sounds like nice project. use the uploader (top of page)to host them the copy link and paste them here

keep up the good work.

right now its at my paps house but monday we are toeing the frame and engine up to my house. when we do im planning on buying a holley fuel pump and a holley fuel line kit. it already has a holley 4 barrel carb. It also has proformace headers (i need to get them out of storage and look at what brand (hopefully hooker) and then im going to buy a muffler of the same brand. I also plan to buy a MSD distributer eventually

ok so someone gave me that engine. all i know is its a 350 out of a late 70’s pontiac grand prix. does anyone know a site where i could find out exactly what engine it is so it will be easier to find parts that fit

If it is a pontiac engine that should help.
Also I dont think it will be a problem but if you ar going HEI make sure you have clearence on the cab of truck(firewall)

It looks like a SBC, not a Pontiac motor. Tough to tell from the pics.

You need casting #'s & there are several sites with this info.

EDIT - late '70’s GP could have a 267? or 305 SBC, or 301 Pontiac (poop).

no i looked it up and 76 and 77 had a 5.7L 350 in the grand prix. and i am 100% sure its from a grand prix. i pulled it out and scrapped the car myself. i feel dumb for asking this but what is HEI?

HEI is something like High Electrical Ignition

the coil will put out like 3 times what a normal coil will do for the spark… it hurts when you touch one in the drizzle and the key is on and my chest is leaning up against the water pump. yeah i felt the shock go thru my arm and out my chest.

well i was planning on putting some MSD stuff into it but why would that mess with the hood space

76-77 GP would have a 350 ci Pontiac motor. The small block chevy was available in the '78 downsized GPs. Somebody could have installed a 350 SBC in it.

Again, as I said earlier, you need to get the casting #s off of the block to determine what it realy is.

where on the block would they be? side front back?
