:ugh: there goes my X-mas $$

Damn, ive ALWAYS wanted a RC helicopter since i was a little kid… SOOO many cool RTF ones here

Suuuper sweet. My dad used to build them when he was little. I’d love to take one to akron falls park and fly it over the waterfall and up and down the stream from that cliff perch.

maybe mount a sneakysneaky livefeed cam on it? ;D

this would last 5 minutes and i would have it broken from either flying into a tree/wires/house/car/person and then i would be pisse i spent that much money on it.

Yeah I need a plane that can survive some severe crashes. I remember tower hobbies used to have the “Sturdy Birdy” It was held together with rubber bands and made for training.

This one is pretty sweet: http://www.nitroplanes.com/2bl45elrchef.html

I would crash immediately.

I wonder what the range on it is

there was an episode of rob and big where they bought rc helicopters and destroyed them all trying to learn to fly them. they spent somewhere around 2k on all of them.

I’ve always wondered why that’s the first question most people ask when I’m flying mine.

The range is about twice as far as you can effectively see the thing to control it. Realistically on a micro heli you don’t get more than 150-200 feet because it gets way too hard to tell how it’s banking, which end is facing you etc. When I used to fly .40 sized gas planes you could go out much farther but those radios were powerful enough that their range was still well beyond your ability to see the plane. Just once I let mine get real far out and almost lost it because I had trouble telling if it was flying towards or away from me.

Viper, if you do get a heli, let me know if you want some help/instruction on getting it flying. Heli’s are extremely hard to fly and very expensive to learn trial and error style with. I’ve been flying an esky CP2 for a couple years now.

I was thinking of buying it now, and playing around with the trainer software over the winter seeing as the weather isnt going to allow much flying now…

ive ALWAYS wanted a helicoptter… and 250 bux isnt that bad of an initial buy in

the flight simulator really helps me durring the winter to stay on my game when i start flying again come spring. Well worth the 200 price tag, i got mine at fields hobby.

I order a ton of stuff from here:

This was my latest pickup:

Stupid easy to fly, and unlike the crap cheap ones they sell in stores it’s a real 3 channel so you can actually control it.

Probably going to pick up some kind of brushless powered belt driven tail heli before spring. e-sky Belt CP maybe? Gotta read up and see what some of the recent releases were.

My cousin has the electric helicopter that has the 6 channel on it. Its awesome. and has the two rotor and no tail rotor so its super stable and easy to fly. Cost about 130 but only runs like 10-15 min which i was disappointed about. Brookstone has them for $30 and they have the cheapest controller and only the single rotor/2 channel controller.

Anyone know the fly time of the high quality ones that are on that site? Some are pretty sweet and eliminates the need for gas and mixing fuel.

The helis are fun. I have the Kyosho Nexus 30 gas powered. 4 foot prop. It’s like a flying lawnmower. I can only lift off and move it forward a little and then land. They are hard to get used to.

great, now i need to buy one.:frowning:

I used to fly airplanes as a kid. I have a helicopter that I can fly pretty good. Its just amazing how far they have come with these things.

I was just tellin you that the other day LOL

Save your self some cash buy a motor/radio/reciever/battery/charger/servos. After flying for 2 summers on Crosby Field and crashing about 100 times 2 Lipo fires, etc. It is better to buy good components and build a foamie. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851608

After flying a certain plane for several weeks I always find something better.

My current profect is a EDF plane YF-23 type plane. It will running on 4 cells and a high Kv motor. Good luck with what ever you get!
