I feel like we really need one of these.
This is all good stuff. This sort of thing normally doesn’t bother me… because… well… usually the person involved has some fault in the matter… but damn United really fucked this one up pretty bad. Many lol’s this week.

reddit already beat this one like a dead horse
They did but this shit is still funny. It probably helps that I’ve hated United for quite a while, though.
The whole concept of overbooking flights is BS. Their excuse about, “we need to fill the plane” is BS too because if I cancel at the last minute you’re still getting my full ticket price anyway. Hopefully the outrage is enough that they amend the passenger rights bill to include a 10k fine per bumped passenger and you’ll see this whole thing disappear overnight.
I was laid over in Chicago when this happened… I’m now waiting to board and the gate is buzzing with this kinda stuff.
only ever seen this happen in the US… never in Canada.
but then again, there is less risk in many US hub airports because there are so many flights. Where as in Canada if you miss the 7pm flight you probably have to wait until the morning.
They should try overbooking cruise trips and see how that works out.
